“Stupid.” That’s how Deion Sanders described his daughter Shelomi Sanders’ decision to leave the CU Buffs fam. While most of the Sanders clan is holding it down at CU—Deion as head coach, Shedeur and Shilo making waves on the field, and Deion Jr. running the media—Shelomi’s been noticeably MIA. Earlier this year, she shook things up, ditching her Buffs fam behind to play at Alabama A&M. Can you blame her, though? With the Buffs, she only saw 11 minutes of play across 5 games. But here’s the real question: has the move to Alabama A&M been a glow-up for her game? Seems like Coach Prime’s got some thoughts on that.

Thee Pregame Network recently released a video in which Shelomi unexpectedly meets her father, Deion Sanders. “I’m happy with where you are, though. I’m happy if you’re happy. Yeah, so that’s the case. I know you’re not getting a minute you want. But, nevertheless, you gotto earn it,” Deion stated during their unexpected encounter.

It seems like Coach Prime might have subtly hinted that his daughter isn’t getting much playing time at Alabama A&M. Is she even seeing the court regularly? Shelomi Sanders is coming off the bench and making a solid contribution. Her minutes have been inconsistent, but she’s definitely trying to make the most of her opportunities. Through 8 games, she’s averaging just 1.8 points, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in about 5.5 minutes per game. Her best game so far was against Alabama Huntsville on November 22nd, where she played 15 minutes and knocked down 2 threes for a season-high 6 points. However, what was Shelomi’s response?

She nodded her head and was completely silent. However, her decision to ‘swap’ came with full confidence. Shelomi thought this through and knew this trade was the right move for her.

Following months of conjecture, she eventually revealed why she left the Buffs and the cozy environment of her family. Shelomi was unapologetic. In response to Coach Freeman’s inquiries, Shelomi discussed her choice to transfer at an IG live interview. “For me, I would say, yeah, last year during the beginning where I just came home sad every day,” Shelomi stated. Due to an injury, she played just 11 minutes during the season and ended up being a redshirt, making her stint with the Buffs difficult. “I was sad and mad like every day. That and when I was at Jackson, like if I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would have quit,” she acknowledged.

Is Deion Sanders right to subtly criticize Shelomi's career move, or should he be more supportive?

It sounds like ‘bad vibes’ might have played a role in her decision to transfer, forcing her to leave her family behind. She acknowledges, nevertheless, that she is content with A&M right now. However, there was a hilarious occurrence that happened during their surprise encounter on December 24.

Did Deion feel bad about Shelomi leaving the Buffs for Alabama A&M? Absolutely! But those days are long gone. Now, it’s all about playful banter and good vibes between father and daughter. After three years of playing for schools where her dad coached, Shelomi made the bold call to chart her own path at Alabama A&M. And yeah, there were some behind-the-scenes talks. “You know, he’s my dad and also a coach, so that’s why he had that kind of reaction. But we handled and discussed things behind closed doors,” Shelomi shared.

Since then, it’s been nothing but fun back-and-forth. Remember Deion’s famous “favorite child” comment from December 2? Shelomi took it and ran, even rocking a t-shirt that crowned her as #1 on Coach Prime’s rankings. Deion’s clapback? “I love you, baby, but you’re NOT #1.” Shelomi’s response? Why would she even rank Deion as a top parent after that?

And the jokes didn’t stop there. On her birthday, on December 14, Deion poked fun, saying, “Bossy ain’t no good! But she wants a birthday AND a Christmas present!” In their latest roast session, Deion teased Shelomi about looking like him. Her comeback? “I don’t look like you. Maybe the nose.”

Their love language is clearly roasting each other, and honestly, we hope it never stops. But while the jokes fly, Shelomi’s got work to do. Her minutes at A&M haven’t been ideal, but hey, the season’s still young. Will she make her mark?
