Colorado Buffaloes’ pro day is already in the books. And quite frankly, even though it kind of lacked the same national spectacle on paper like we witnessed last offseason with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, it went quite well, actually. Nineteen draft-eligible players hit the field to impress the scouts. And out of this bunch, Colorado’s 313-pound lineman Xavier Hill had the best field day and the most entertaining post-pro day demand, apparently.

“I was saying just able to keep your weight down, y’know. Because all year I’ve been craving cheeseburgers. I just want to go get a cheeseburger. So, that’s gotta be the biggest struggle,” Xavier Hill said right after a heck of a Pro Day.

When a reporter followed up and asked “where at,” the Buffs OL doubled down and gave a shout-out to America’s undisputed favorite burger spot: “Five Guys.”

The 6’6”, 313-pound lineman just defied the popular misconception that big men cannot move. The numbers he put up were honestly kind of wild. Hill clocked a 5.0 flat 40-yard dash. To put that in perspective, the average NFL lineman usually hits around 5.10 or even the 5.20s, so he’s already way ahead of the curve.

Luckily, it didn’t stop there. The former Memphis Tigers lineman doubled down and posted a 30-inch vertical jump. He even hit 26 reps on the bench. By the time Boulder’s Pro Day ended, Hill had put himself in the conversation for one of the most athletic linemen in this year’s draft class, if not the most athletic.

Xavier Hill has been in the trenches since the beginning of the NIL era, at least. The man is a five-year veteran. After three years at LSU and two years at Memphis, he finally arrived in Boulder as a graduate transfer with Coach Prime for the 2025 season. Safe to say, the man has been an asset for Coach Prime, as he could play almost anywhere on the line, regardless.

In his lone season with the Buffs, Hill was one of the team’s most reliable blockers in all of the Big 12. He started 10 games and played over 703 snaps, only allowing three sacks and 11 hurries. PFF graded him as the top-rated guard in the Big 12 for last season (2025).

Scouts love the fact that he was the third-best pass blocker (trailing behind Ben Coleman of Arizona State (Baylor’s Ryan Lengyel) in the Big 12 last season and can easily slide between tackle and guard. He’s even ready to play center at the next level if the team wants him to.

More importantly, Coach Sanders has always praised Hill for being a leader in the locker room. Now that the dust has settled, Hill’s draft stock is definitely pointing up. He’s currently projected as a mid-to-late round pick. But truth be told, a performance like this could easily push him into the earlier rounds. End of the day, he’s done the work, hit the marks, and definitely earned that ‘Five Guys’ cheeseburger.

Now, he just has to wait for an NFL team to take a flier on him and cash in on that upside.

Colorado Buffaloes’ pro-day

Scouts from around 26 NFL teams and the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats were in attendance at Folsom Field. Outside Xavier Hill, the undisputed king of the day was wide receiver Sincere Brown.

The Buffs WR clocked unofficial times of 4.38 and 4.39 seconds in his 40 yards dash. To give you an idea of how fast that is, those numbers would’ve put him right in the top 10 at the actual NFL Combine.

Even their QB quarterback Kaidon Salter had a bit of a throwing session. Arden Walker (DE) also flexed his strength by benching 22 reps, a 31-inch vertical, and a 4.76-second 40-yard dash. Defensive backs like Preston Hodge and Ivan Yates were among the fastest defenders, running 4.56 and 4.59 seconds in the 40-yard dash, respectively.

Of course, Coach Prime had a little performance of his own. He showed up to the facility with a literal fishing rod in hand. He told everyone it was a metaphor because he was out there “fishing” for the best spots and the right scouts for his players.

As the sun set on the facility and the scouts packed up their clipboards, the overall consensus was that the day was a big win for the program’s reputation. These buffs have done everything they can in their power to make their case. Only April will tell how many of the 19 Buffs will get drafted and make it to the next level.
