Memories of a dear brother are forever imprinted in Deion Sanders’ heart and mind. If he were here today, he would have just had the right thing to say to the Buffs HC after Colorado’s devastating loss to the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday. However, post-COVID-19 complications took a toll on him in May 2021, leaving a deep void in the 57-year-old’s soul. But it’s not just in life, even in death, that Deion Sanders finds solace in the words of his late pastor, Omar Jahwar.

Arrowhead Stadium didn’t favor the Colorado Buffs as they faced their third defeat of the season in the hands of Kansas. Following the 37-22 loss, a crushed Deion Sanders turned to late Bishop Omar Jahwar’s words for comfort. He uploaded a new Instagram post on November 26 featuring the pastor’s words along with the caption, “My Late Pastor Omar Jahwar. still blessing me with his words.”

In the video, Omar Jahwar dropped words of wisdom to Deion Sanders during their meeting, where he said, “Only inspired people can inspire people. Sometimes you got to tap in, bro.” The loss to the Jayhawks is devastating as it clouded up their path towards a Big Ten Championship appearance and a potential playoff. But that isn’t an excuse to lose focus and become uninspired.

In another part of the video, Deion Sanders’ former spiritual guide said, “You need God to remind you that today is peace that passes on… How can I be reminded that You got this under control when my life is kinda chaotic? So I’m out here, I’m getting inspired. You know, only inspired people get to inspire people. He’s my brother man. He’s Country Prime. He’s my brother for real.” Did you know? It was Jahwar who talked Deion Sanders out of his suic-dal thoughts during his darkest times when he was making headlines in the NFL. If there’s a time to honor his pastor’s impact on his life, it’s now, and it should start with getting inspired.

Deion Sanders blames the loss on their complacency

Deion Sanders knows what complacency could do to a winning team. His biggest fear came true on Saturday when Colorado’s playoff hopes vanished with a ‘poof’ after the Kansas loss. Needless to say, the Buffs locker room got an earful from the HC, who scolded, “Nobody in here can say you gave maximum effort. You bought into all that foolishness… and we went out there and got humbled.”

In his speech to the media, Deion Sanders added, “We started smelling ourselves a little bit. That’s what I just told our team. We got intoxicated with the success.” Now with an 8-3 record, Colorado is among the four teams tied for first place in the Big 12 alongside BYU, Arizona State, and Iowa State (all 6-2). What a mess the Big 12 Championship game is going to create! A final Big 12 game is scheduled against Oklahoma State on November 29, which will play a huge factor in their path to a conference title.
