It was quite some Saturday night in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners fans were throwing their hats in the air, cheering for a bowl game while Bama waltzed in, still picturing a spot in the college football playoffs. But then THUD. What’s that sound? It was Alabama’s offense hitting the bottom of the ocean. A 24-3 loss! Bama fans can’t accept that anymore. No touchdowns, no fights, just bad vibes! This wasn’t only an unlucky game for Alabama, but their offense melted like Swiss cheese. Now, who’s going to take it on them? Kalen DeBoer? Jalen Milroe? Or the offensive coordinator, Nick Sheridan?

Before jumping to the conclusion, let’s talk about the offense. Jalen Milroe is a talented guy, no doubt, and when he’s on, he does great! Remember their game against LSU two weeks before? He spun and sprinted within defenders like he knew the drill. We agree on that, but what happened against Oklahoma?

Milroe rushed for a total of 7 yards for 15 attempts, and he was managing the defense like he was driving a car with broken glass on a windy day. But hey, we can’t put it all on him. Offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan is equally responsible for that. The closest Alabama went to the end zone was in the second half at Oklahoma’s 33-yard line with 6:53 left on the clock. This then turned into Milroe’s third interception of the game. The only points they secured were because of Graham Nicholson’s 22-yard field goal during the first quarter.

Nick Sheridan might as well have been calling plays wearing a blindfold. The fans were urging Milroe to save them from this embarrassing loss. However, the three points that Bama did manage to put on the board happened to mark the first time since 2004 that Tide has been contained at that number. During that year, South Carolina beat the Crimson Tide in a 21-3 matchup. I mean, who would’ve wanted a recap of that?

Ah, well. It was inevitable due to the horrible offense. The Oklahoma Sooners managed to contain the Tide to just 234 yards of total offense, as Bama finished with just 70 yards on the ground. To top it all off, Tide averaged 4.1 yards per play and ran 57 plays with just 13 downs. So fans went crazy on X trolling Sheridan and the Bama offense, were they totally out of line?

Alabama fans are getting mad at Nick Sheridan

What’s your perspective on:

Is Nick Sheridan the real culprit for Alabama's flop, or is it time to blame Milroe?

Have an interesting take?

A fan page called Jalen Milroe Burner wrote, “Everything looked bad tonight. However, if Nick Sheridan isn’t jobless or at least out of OC by January, there’s deeper issues. You’d think after a quarter of designed QB runs not working, we’d move on. Nah. Let’s continue to do it. Not once, not twice, 100 times.” It looks like this fan is not in the mood to watch Nick Sheridan for next year’s season. Before joining Alabama, the OC had been to places such as Washington, Indiana, and Kentucky, and given his records, Bama officials put faith in him, but it looks like the time of his departure is not far.

Moving forward, the same guy revealed another piece of information, saying, “If I were DeBoer, Sheridan is gone the instant we get back to Tuscaloosa. I had gone back& forth on him all season but today was the final straw. You constantly just refresh the same QB run over & over. You act like defenses don’t pick up on sh-t.” Phew, that was a harsh comment. But we still know the drill, right? What if DeBoer is seriously giving thought to it? Milroe had two pick-sixes in his last game. That’s just pathetic. A team like Oklahoma that lost five games this season didn’t allow them to reach the end zone easily? No wonder there’s so much hate for them.

Then one more fan wrote, “Fire Nick Sheridan tonight. he cost the school millions upon millions of dollars, prestige, and marketing.” Yeah, no Bama fan can agree more with it. Big bucks have already been spent on their costly offense, and what are we getting at the end? A flop season and drowning playoff hopes! Sheridan is one of the most paid offensive coordinators in college football, with $1.35 million for the 2024 season, and his contract will end in Feb 2027. However, with the recent rising calls for his firing, who even knows?

One more fan wrote, “If Nick Sheridan and Kane Wommack are back on the sidelines in Tuscaloosa next year for @alabamaFTBL, it’s indicative of a huge failure of leadership at the top.” This one guy is talking about firing not only Nick Sheridan but demanding the fire of Kane Wommack as well. So here’s the thing: not only did Alabama’s offensive line tanked big time, but what was their defense doing? How come Oklahoma managed to score big points? The fans now dragged defensive coordinator Kane Wommack into the conversation and pointed out the same mistakes in their defense as well, resulting in a painful loss.

Then there’s a fan named Charles, who wrote, “Screw Milroe and this coaching staff. Alabama’s season is over. Time to focus on recruiting, fire Nick Sheridan, get back to running the football, and steer clear from QBs like Milroe, who are one-dimensional.” It looked like Milroe didn’t even try in his last game. In the name of attempts, Milroe only picked up seven rush yards on 15 attempts. That’s some real things said here. Bitter but true. Alabama finally found some momentum in the season but this loss has cost them so many things.
