Two eyes on the same prize! Uncommitted 4-star Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng is making headlines as the top uncommitted LB of the 2025 class. Colorado and Michigan are among the top school prospects for the IMG Academy linebacker. Both teams’ last game are losses as they’re 4-2 into the season. We’re going to excuse Deion Sanders and the Buffs because they don’t have an expectation as high as the National Championship team that Sherrone Moore is leading. Everything has changed for the Wolverines, they’re nothing like last year. Still, can they find a silver lining in their recruiting front despite their low-energy season?

Just three weeks ago, Owusu-Boateng announced that his top six picks are Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, and USC. But he made it clear that his “recruitment is still 100 percent open.” As reported in an X post by Michigan football recruiting reporter Aidan Sen on October 15, “Per sources, the Michigan coaching and recruiting staff have an extremely strong relationship with uncommitted 2025 4-star LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng. His visits to Ann Arbor have been his favorite of any school.”

One thing that fell in Michigan’s favor with this recruitment was the return of LB coach Brian Jean-Mary who coached Tennessee from 2021 to 2023. Jean-Mary and Owusu-Boateng had a connection back there as the valuable prospect revealed, “When Coach BJ was at Tennessee, me and him kept in contact, so when he came over to Michigan it was no-brainer for me. Michigan stands really tall on my list going forward towards fall camp.”

Michigan hasn’t been rolling in a bed of roses this season. No Jim Harbaugh. No JJ McCarthy. The QB dilemma is neverending. Sherrone Moore continues to face the fury of fans as they sustained a 10-point loss to their 2023 National Championship opponent Washington. His decision to bench Alex Orji after benching Davis Warren and his running strategy has all been a red flag for both fans and analysts alike. Can the connection with coach Jean-Mary retain Owusu-Boateng’s commitment despite this mess? After all, Colorado already put themselves as a top choice.

Deion Sanders outpaces Sherrone Moore in recruiting race

Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng has been keeping an eye on the Buffs’ defense. Seeking the best opportunities, the No. 13 player in Florida attended Colorado’s last game against Kansas State. The Buffs may have lost 31-28 but he saw an opportunity in that defeat that he could change for the program.

As per On3’s Hayes Fawcett’s report, “Colorado has emerged as a Top School for Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng.” The highly-sought defender is confident that his presence in Colorado could make an “everlasting impact.” But Deion Sanders and co are not without fierce competition. The No. 6 LB of the 2025 class is expected to drop his commitment soon. And when he does, it’s going to be huge news.
