America has stepped into the new year right into some very challenging times. The Pacific coast and its unassuming people have been overcome by mayhem, seemingly out of nowhere. Something Shilo Sanders isn’t all that sure about. Two separate wildfires in and around Los Angeles, in conjunction, caused mass devastation. Unfortunately, there’s no respite, with other similar fires cropping up in proximity. Houses and livelihoods are engulfed in flames. The authorities and firefighters’ efforts have been rendered almost futile. Demand begrudgingly exceeds supply both in terms of manpower and water. At least 2 individuals have succumbed to the wildfire already.
An abomination out in the City of Angels, mere days after the tragedy down in NOLA. The country is hurting, and no demographic is averse. The areas most severely hit are ones inhabited by celebrities and public figures. Not that this has any bearing whatsoever on the scale of this tragedy. As such, a lot of that demographic has permeated their prayers and help through. The CFB realm has also followed suit, grieving for those affected and hoping this passes through without causing more destruction.
Shilo Sanders has also felt the effects, albeit indirectly. With his collegiate career now over, he’s headed into a new phase of life. In this time of reflection, a tragedy such as this can bring perspective. Shilo outwardly questioned and then tried to discern the nature of the wildfires and what may have caused them. This is in the wake of his “close friend” over in LA being caught in the midst of it all.

Shilo took to his IG to write “Prayers for those affected by the fires 🙏🏾”, alongside an excerpt from a podcast discussing the abomination itself. In the comments section of this post, Shilo Sanders said, “One of my closest friends just lost everything, and the fires seem to continue to increase, which led me to my line of questioning. I’m always gon ask questions because the safety of my friends and their families are at risk.” The friend remains unnamed. In the video itself, he begins with a straightforward question which stems from genuine concern. “I just don’t understand wildfires. How can you not put out a fire?” As aforementioned, the resources were outmatched.

Back in the comments, Shilo continued “I think we all should continue to ask questions to find ways of prevention and ways to help. It’s time to spread awareness on these issues to prevent them but to also make sure everyone is good.” A heartfelt plea to the people indeed. As he proclaimed, Shilo was curious about the wildfires. It’s cause and its solution, which didn’t quite come for his friend in time, unfortunately. He attempted to answer his own questions. Fair warning: the answers may come across as insensitive and controversial, which is far from what Shilo was expressing.

Shilo Sanders discusses what, or who caused the wildfires and his friend’s peril
In times such as this, people often make outlandish, even irrational, claims. This often happens because the sorrow is preventing them from thinking straight. Shilo Sanders, overcome by misery from this devastation, may have explored a school of thought he doesn’t fully believe. All because he was in a moment of weakness, trying to ease the burden with some lightheartedness.
What’s your perspective on:
Are wildfires a natural disaster we can't control, or is there more we can do to prevent them?
Have an interesting take?
“Where does it start from?” he asked. “There’s someone that’s running around LA, running around California, that’s just lighting things on fire. We don’t know who it is!” Shilo said this in jest, but he was unsure about the science behind what instigates wildfires. He did acknowledge that, being from Texas, he doesn’t grasp what exactly causes a fire like this. His co-host suggested they happen in Texas, too. The co-host also gave a pretty fair explanation of what can cause them.

Everybody in the world is in unison in sending prayers across to LA and its people. Hopefully, this situation will quell soon enough. Also, we hope people who have lost their homes can find solace and proper reimbursement. Similar to Shilo Sanders, other CFB figures have been affected, too. Even the Rose Bowl stadium has been deemed under threat. The safety of the people is paramount, so wish help is arriving in whatever capacity it can.
