The Belichick era at UNC is doing everything but its job: bringing success to a struggling program. The veteran coach’s arrival at Chapel Hill brought forth the money. But the PR campaign has gone sideways for the Tar Heels. Jordon Hudson, unfortunately, is at the center of the chaos unfolding away from the gridiron. Once again, she and Belichick seem to have cost North Carolina a key attempt at appealing to the American masses.

Hulu has canceled the docuseries that was set to be made at Chapel Hill as a feature on UNC football. This would’ve been crucial for a program that is looking to get under a good light with Bill Belichick at the helm. But after UNC going 2-3 this season under the legendary coach, Hulu saw this project was a lost cause. This is a big blow to Belichick’s plans for UNC football, who could have seriously used the limelight that would come with this project.
UNC is no longer moving forward with the in-season documentary with Hulu, sources close to the program told Inside Carolina. The team announced its plan in August to collaborate with Hulu to showcase the team this season.

North Carolina is now the third-worst program in the ACC, with a 40% winning percentage. Those aren’t numbers that are associated with someone of Bill Belichick’s stature. The Tar Heels will also face more competition in the remainder of their schedule. Syracuse, Virginia, and Duke are all waiting to exploit North Carolina for a crucial win. The Bill Belichick era is already backfiring on UNC top brass. The Hulu show was intended to show UNC’s “commitment to winning,” per a statement from the coach. The 2-3 record stands in stark contrast to that claim.
This also comes after HBO pulling out of featuring UNC on Hard Knocks, the much-loved NFL docuseries on HBO. It was going to be the first time the show starred a college football team. For a program as dire as UNC to be getting this honor was a huge deal. But per ESPN, it was because of Belichick and Hudson both that this project failed. The coach didn’t like HBO’s plan for the show, since it would only cover the Tar Heels’ fall camp. But Hudson was also found to be at blame, who had asked for more control over content and ownership.

Jordon Hudson’s job as Bill Belichick’s PR gatekeeper seems to be hurtling towards failure. HBO preferred to cancel the show altogether, than agree to Hudson’s demands for partial ownership and content approval for the project. She has unfortunately built herself a reputation of exercising control over Bill Belichick’s presence in the media. And that has also snowballed into her being a factor in affecting UNC’s image. North Carolina had said earlier that Hudson was not involved in “communications related to the program or building of the program.”
However, it did confirm that Jordon Hudson was “playing an active role” in the production of the HBO series at Chapel Hill. That show is no longer happening, and also scrapped is the solution she had applied on as a Band-Aid fix.

Jordon Hudson lost the show that made up for the HBO loss
There’s more coming out from the Hard Knocks-UNC drama, that hint at Jordon Hudson having some hand in it. We now know that Belichick himself had backtracked from the deal, but Hudson was already planning something else. Reports confirm that HBO also took offense at her being in talks with EverWonder, another production company. It produced the mega-popular Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix.

EverWonder also happened to be a collaborative party for the Hulu project, which has also been thrown out of the window. This means that HBO got the last say over Hudson, for the second time now after this cancellation. The Hulu show was going to cover the Tar Heels’ whole season, which was going to be some crucial PR for the program. Everything Bubba Cunningham hoped would come to UNC via Bill Belichick is slowly slipping out of his hands.
No network or streaming platform will want to deploy resources for a program like North Carolina at the moment. Having someone like Bill Belichick at the helm is doing little wonders for the program, both on and off the field. The Tar Heels seem to be progressing almost on the same level as they have been for so long, mooting the reason why Belichick was brought on in the first place. And, Jordon Hudson’s efforts to help out her partner have only exacerbated the problems for UNC. Who knows what all the program is set to lose by the end of the schedule?
