Ed Orgeron might have found his next landing spot, and it’s coming at a time when an SEC team desperately needs some help on the defensive side of the ball. Ed Orgeron recently told Andy Staples that he’s ready to get back into coaching in whatever capacity makes sense. He said, “I’m not gonna take anything, and not everybody’s gonna take me. So, it may be a head coach job. It may be a defensive line job with someone that I believe can win a championship.”

The team that might need Orgeron’s help is none other than the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks have been operating without their defensive line coach, Travian Robertson, since August 22. The 36-year-old former NFL player was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver on Dutch Fork Road in Richland County. Robertson spent two weeks in the hospital, including 10 days in the ICU, and underwent five surgeries for what his attorney described as “severe and life-changing injuries.”

While he’s been working virtually to help with game planning, Shane Beamer’s staff has been short-handed on the field all season as Robertson continues his recovery and rehabilitation. So, while Travian recovers and gets back to optimum health, Coach O and Shane Beamer could strike a symbiotic relationship and help each other at least for the remainder of the season.
