Ohio State is definitely going to see a number of players go as top picks in the 2026 draft. Among them will be Carnell Tate, who stands a chance of continuing Brian Hartline’s streak of producing Round 1 WRs. After the Wisconsin game wraps up, there is no doubt that Tate will emerge as a star. He produced his 100th career catch in the first quarter and followed it up to help OSU to a massive 17-0 lead. Tate’s stocks just went up a lot higher! Though he has been outshone by Jeremiah Smith, there is no way Tate remains so after this game. He is the 8th-best WR in the Big Ten as of now, 2 places behind Smith.
Other players who can follow him are defensive stars Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs, and Arvell Reese. All three of them are serious changemakers for the team. While Styles and Downs have been consistent and elite for a long time, Reese has shown remarkable improvement this season. With 38 total tackles and 5 sacks, he has outshone Styles, overtaking him in the rankings. Another offensive star who could feature as a good pick is TE Max Klare, who has hauled in 9 catches for 101 yards over the last two games.
There’s something for everyone in this Ohio State squad, which surely has scouts’ work cut out for them. This is, of course, not the first time scouts will be watching Ohio State. 31 reps and 2 GMs had dropped by the Horseshoe for the Texas opener, which proves that OSU is going to be a talent bank for the NFL next year. But this season will generate a heap of Buckeye stars. There are 4 names that can easily be picked in the second round itself. Carnell Tate, however, has a shot to go to Ohio’s own in the NFL.

Carnell Tate a fit for Cleveland, per ESPN’s Mel Kiper
Tate will no doubt be a key target for franchises, since he comes from the program that produces the best. He is the best offensive star from OSU to hit the draft next year. The WR can either go as a late-round 1 pick or a second-round pick. Mel Kiper puts him at No. 25 in his mock draft and sees him as a choice for the Browns.

Though there are no reports of a Cleveland rep attending the game, they might still be very interested in a WR. As some QBs are expected to go earlier, it makes room for the others to come, like Carnell Tate.
“Tate is one of the most polished receiver prospects in this class, with dependable hands and the route-running ability of an experienced NFL veteran. His type of play can translate right away into the Browns’ offense, which could use more pass catchers alongside Jerry Jeudy,” Kiper wrote in his report. Cleveland will be looking for a new receiver to bring in since the QBs will likely be changing hands. Tate has already been compared to some of the best in the NFL, like Titans WR Calvin Ridley.
