Beau Pribula
wasn’t the first, nor the highest-rated quarterback, the Missouri Tigers went after in the transfer portal. Maybe he wasn’t the one the sixth-year Missouri Tigers head coach Elia Drinkwitz

even wanted to turn to in the first place. But no doubt, he fits the Tigers’ offense the best. Pribula pulled the rug in his Penn State tenure after Drew Allar made a rampant return from going the NFL way. He strived for the starting job, and the relentless search left him in the backyard of Drinkwitz. But the uncertainty never left his side. He’ll now compete with redshirt junior Sam Horn for Missouri’s starting quarterback position in 2025. What does the Mizzou camp have in store for him ahead?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Beau Pribula the underdog Missouri needs, or just another QB lost in the shuffle?

Have an interesting take?

Though he served as Allar’s backup, Pribula — the lifelong Penn State fan — had been a fixture of Penn State’s offense. Thanks to offensive coordinator

Andy Kotelnicki, who made the best out of his dual-threat ability in moments of need. When Allar left the field with an injury on October 26 at Wisconsin just before halftime, Pribula mounted a mind-blowing comeback victory on the road, keeping his team in the undefeated lane. That was huge. Pribula capped off 11 of 13 passing for 98 yards with a touchdown, adding 28 rushing yards.

But

SEC Insider Michael Bratton takes all the numbers with a pinch of salt. “Those stats you just read there, you’d look at them and say, ‘My god, this guy must be amazing,” right? He’s never thrown for 100 yards in a game, now, he’s not been the starter either. So, I mean, Joe Burrow, I don’ think had 100 yards in a game at Ohio State, I don’t think he barely played and of course, he’s maybe the best all time in a single season,” Mike continued leveling down the hype,” You know, there’s a handful of guys you could throw that in, there, but I mean let’s just look at like last year 19 yards in one game, 83 another, his best was a 98 yard game.”

The 6 ft 2 has always been craving a role as a gadget player – and he deserves it as well. Pribula’s incredible deep ball throws and running ability have stunned his fans throughout his career so far. From Central York High School to Penn State, Pribula has had his legacy marked, but not as the main guy, though. So, is it high time for him to rise and shine as a Mizzou starter? “

I mean, I just, I don’t know how to evaluate this guy and they’re keeping it,” Mike cast doubt on that chance. “There was no spring game; I don’t even know if he’s on the team anymore. What I mean is they just don’t tell us anything.” And co-host Cousin Shane added to this saying: “They’re definitely keeping it hidden.”

Spring has been highly elusive for the QB room of Mizzou. There’s not much information about Pribula as well.

“We don’t even know if he’s the starting quarterback!” said Cousin Shane. But the cloud around the player is now clearing up, thanks to their head coach…

Elia Drinkwitz keeps his QBs hanging in the balance over a verdict

“It was clear to us after probably the first week-and-a-half of spring that the competition is between Beau (Pribula) and Sam (Horn),” Mizzou HC Elia Drinkwitz said after a spring game press meet. “And those two guys will be the primary two pushing to be the starting quarterback.”

Usually, the other teams focus on navigating through the resources available in each position room, especially in the QB room, to chisel out the best. But Coach Drinkwitz looks to be in no rush to sort his QB1 for the season to come. He was caught in a pretty laid-back mode, promoting the idea of learning and responding to mistakes through the spring rather than making it a competitive pad.

“I told those guys that there is no plan to try to name a starter through spring,” Drinkwitz said. “I don’t really believe in that because I think it puts too much pressure on the team and everybody involved. This is about individual player development.”

Horn came off as a four-star recruit who backed up three-year starter

Brady Cook until the two-sport, football, and baseball athlete had to miss the 2024 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery. So, he is no slouch of a contender, and neither is their elite portal pick, Pribula. It’s intriguing to see who among these two gets their callings answered, going forward.
