It doesn’t matter how old a college football fan is when it comes to gameday picks. ESPN’s Laura Rutledge’s daughter, Reese, is an absolute joy when it comes to making picks for the biggest matchups every game week. The almost-6-year-old is back at helmet-picking duties, and she’s made a risky choice for tonight’s high-stakes clash between Alabama and Georgia.

Laura Rutledge is now a regular on NFL Live and Get Up. But on her social media, it’s her daughter, Reese, who is the star. Laura runs a fun series called ‘Reese’s Football Picks,’ which is now in its 6 year. That means Reese has been doing this pretty much since her birth and is ready with her pick every Saturday. It was previously a one-person show, but she is joined by her little brother Jack these days. Ahead of the iconic rivalry faceoff between Georgia and Alabama, Reese has made her pick.

“I really like both these teams, so I’m gonna feel really bad whoever I don’t pick,” Reese said before making her pick. She seemed to be confused for some time before she excitedly picked up the Crimson helmet. “Go Bama! Go Bama!” she cheered, with a little dance. She even bowed out of the video with a confident “Roll Tide!”

Jack, however, is siding with Kirby Smart and the Dawgs. We’ll have to see which sibling wins this round of Saturday college football. By the way, Dad Josh Rutledge, who is a former MLB player, played for Alabama baseball. So far, Reese’s pick has been proved wrong only once, when she picked Texas over Ohio State. We’ll have to let that one slide, considering how wrong most of us were.

Alabama and Georgia resume their historic rivalry for this year, and both are entering the game in unique situations. Kalen DeBoer is on a 2-4 record when it comes to away games. And based on everything the Tide has shown us so far, it really gets difficult to confidently put our hopes on its shoulders. Though Reese’s picks have usually resulted in wins, Alabama vs. Georgia is going to be a tricky one.

Joel Klatt leans towards Georgia

Alabama enters the game at No. 17, while Georgia comes in at No. 5. The poll isn’t taking it easy on the Tide, considering they’ve dropped three places even after defeating Wisconsin. Kirby Smart, on the other hand, was victorious for the first time over the Tide last year. DeBoer’s foundation was still rocky at the time. But year 2 shows little improvement to fans and experts. Joel Klatt thinks that this time, Georgia will quell the Tide for the first time since 2007 in the regular season.

Firstly, it’s because Georgia is playing at home. “It’s not that they’ve just lost games; it’s been the fashion in which they have lost those games,” Klatt said in a September 25 episode of his show. Georgia has lost to Alabama repeatedly in away games. Now, Kirby Smart is finally in a prime position to break free from his vice of losing to Alabama in conference play. DeBoer’s humiliating loss against FSU has already set the stage for Alabama’s potential in away games. But it’s not just that. Klatt is confident Georgia is the better squad here, personnel-wise, too.

Alabama, coming after a win against Wisconsin, does nothing to push Georgia to the background for Klatt. The analyst is not very keen on Alabama winning this game. “I don’t think that’s going to happen, not when they’ve got Gunner Stockton back there. Not with the confidence he’s going to bring out of that Tennessee game after leading them back to a victory in overtime,” Klatt added. Stockton, however, may have a problem when it comes to the Alabama defense. It ranks 19 in total defense.

The lowering standards of Alabama football and the unpredictability of Georgia defeating Alabama make this a coin-toss game. We wonder if it is Jack who ends up defeating Reese after the game. The younger sibling can finally triumph over the elder one if Georgia stuns college football by defeating Alabama.
