ESPN’s Molly McGrath truly shined on NFL Draft Day, and quite frankly, she makes the entire event seem even more exciting. Molly has been an outstanding sideline reporter for college football, but when draft night arrives, she’s on center stage, delivering that same energy and poise to the grand stage. This year in Green Bay during the 2025 NFL Draft, she was wearing a stylish business suit and looking perfect with her hair immaculately styled-although she did give everyone a fun behind-the-scenes peek at the “trust the process” before glamour took over.
Molly is one of those individuals who makes balancing a high-powered career and family life seem easy. San Francisco-born and proudly embracing her Irish and Mexican-Spanish heritage, she’s always had that go-getter spirit. She was not only another student at Boston College—she was a cheer captain and overall academic star, raking in awards and paving the way for her eventual career in sports media.
McGrath began her professional career with the Boston Celtics in 2011, serving as a web reporter and in-arena host. Soon enough, Fox Sports signed her up, and Molly was soon a household name, co-hosting America’s Pregame and reporting on campus sports from the sidelines. When she came back to ESPN in 2016, she was hitting on all cylinders, reporting on everything from college football playoffs to high-intensity Big Ten basketball games.

But, before being a beaming broadcaster of the ESPN channel, she is a mother. McGarthy’s draft day did not just involve interviewing top picks like Cam Ward, Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter. She shared a very heartfelt post on Instagram talking about the opportunity of being a part of how her professional life comes down to just one reason. Her son.
“The NFL Draft is my favorite event of the year. Not because it feels larger than life with hundreds of thousands of fans in attendance, but because it’s the best day of these athletes’ lives. These athletes have spent a childhood dreaming and a lifetime of hard work, all for the chance to hear their names called on draft night. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to witness these moments. Swipe to the end to see my ‘why.'”
The last slide consisted of a very heartfelt video of her son seeing his mother on TV and calling her out with joy, “Mama…Mommy! It’s mommy.” She shared a genuinely heartwarming moment that got everyone’s attention. You could just see Molly’s eyes brimming with tears. It was such an authentic, emotional moment that reflected how much her family is important to her, even amidst all the NFL frills and pressure.
