What happens when a player is drafted in later rounds of the draft? Does he slip into oblivion among hundreds of unheard names sitting on the benches of various NFL teams? Or does any redemption story unfold like the ones we saw with Tom Brady, Dak Prescott, or Russell Wilson? Shedeur Sanders might have one of these trajectories in the NFL after he was drafted in the 5th round by the Cleveland Browns. But Shedeur’s family doesn’t care about all of these scenarios. They stand tall in every adversity, supporting and cheering for him as 143 picks went by without his name being called. We saw Shilo cheering for his younger brother. Pilar Sanders was there for her son throughout the process. Coach Prime also remained unfazed despite the surprising turn of events. For Shedeur, the whole ordeal was a blow- to his expectations and hopes. However, the weight of the blow didn’t become that heavy because of his support system- the Sanders. But this loving, ever-so-supportive family has had its shared of highs and lows. Mostly due to the turbulent history between their parents.

2013 was a harsh year for Coach Prime. The Colorado head coach was coming off a sensationalized divorce with his wife Pilar Sanders, and controversy was brewing as both filed for their children’s custody. During the process, Pilar Sanders accused Coach Prime of using steroids. From then on, it took an ugly turn. Deion Sanders stormed off from the courtroom after his ex-wife’s ‘steroid’ accusation and screamed, “Oh God” so loudly that the whole Collins County could hear. The relationship only went downhill thereafter.

The once-loving couple who even made their own reality show, ‘Deion & Pillar: Prime Time Love‘ in 2008, were having issues no one had imagined. The couple’s divorce became a public spectacle as Pilar accused Deion of physical and domestic abuse and labeled him a “narcissistic bully“. Deion hit back, accusing Pilar of infidelity, greed, exploiting his wealth. The worst sufferers were Deion’s children, who were forced to choose one parent over the other in this brutal war of courtrooms and words. But eventually, over the years, as the children grew up and joined colleges, the former couple’s rivalry seemed to have taken a backseat. But has everything cooled down? Well, well…

In a recent video posted by a prominent gossip IG account, ‘morningjuiceboxtv’, the head coach can be seen having an awkward moment involving his ex-wife, Pilar Sanders. In a moment which can well be dubbed ‘heartfelt’, Shedeur is checking his phone, and Coach Prime is beside him, keeping his hands on Shedeur’s shoulders and seemingly supporting him. But then, out of the blue, Shedeur’s mother, Pilar Sanders, shows up, and it may have taken less than a split second as Coach Prime brushes off his hand off Shedeur’s shoulders and backs off from the QB instantly.

The IG account captioned the post, “Not! Coach Prime’s clip is trending of him sliding out the second Pilar showed up at the draft. Bro hit ‘anything of the kids’ and vanished.” This is not the first awkward encounter between Coach Prime and Pilar Sanders.

Previously, the head coach in Shedeur’s senior day game was seen swiftly walking away from his ex-wife as she approached to greet her sons. Maybe Coach Prime still feels the tremors of the past history and maintains his distance. But for now? The children are paramount for him, and he can surely take one or two uncomfortable moments, right?

Pilar Sanders motivates son Shedeur after draft snub

Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide was hardly rosy for us college football fans to watch. I mean, this was the guy who provided the Colorado Buffaloes with a 9-4 season, a rare feat in their history. Moreover, in doing that, notched up more than 4,000 passing yards at 74% efficiency. You don’t get this type of player every day, right? But NFL GMs disagreed with the popular verdict and chose to provide us with what we actually saw in the draft. What could have been the reason?

Well, Shilo in his recent stream remarked jokingly that, “Dad was our agent…but that hadn’t been working out too good“. The statement was lighthearted but still raised some eyebrows on Deion Sanders’ role in Shedeur’s draft stock. The head coach, however, chose to follow a high road as he wrote, “God is great” after Shedeur’s 144th pick was announced. But Pilar?

Well, Pilar wasn’t having any of that as she gave her son something to carry forward in the NFL. She wrote, “PRESSURE is a PRIVILEGE plus our FAV PASTIME…It’s a legendary legacy for the Headache Gang!“. Well, she may not be wrong, though! Even after the former Buffs QB was drafted as a potential backup in the NFL draft, the sales of Shedeur’s jerseys amongst all the rookies have been all-time high. Even Travis Hunter, the second pick in the draft, is far behind the QB. So the Shedeur sensation might well have started before anyone envisioned. And Pilar? She might be right all along!
