Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team came into today’s game with a 4-1 record, but after a hard-fought Big 12 matchup in Boulder, they returned with a 4-2 record. The game ended in a nail-biter as No. 18 Kansas State edged out Colorado with a 31-28 victory. Despite the loss, Coach Sanders was still in good spirits before the game, happy that his son, Shilo Sanders, was able to play this time around.

Buffs’ Safety Shilo Sanders will play this week against Kansas State after missing the previous three because of a forearm injury that required surgery. His father, Coach Prime even announced on Tuesday that, “Shilo is prepared. He’s getting ready. He’s all set.” And now, on October 13, 2024, Colorado Buffaloes Football uploaded a video to their Instagram account showing the father and son hugging before the game against Kansas. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot. Shilo had just been through a tough time, so seeing him get a hug from someone he cared about was really heartwarming.

Going down for the do-or-die game, though, might be emotionally demanding for any father—Deion included—after overcoming a devastating injury. For this reason, Coach Prime showed his feelings on Saturday by giving his kid a passionate embrace. After the injury incurred during Colorado’s Sept. 7 loss to Nebraska, the Buffaloes have improved to 4-1 by winning three straight games. With three games missing, the question is still open. How did Shilo’s fire fare in the Kansas State game on Saturday?

Is Shilo Sanders’ return noteworthy?

Fans are incredibly excited about Shilo Sanders’ return to the Colorado Buffaloes lineup this Saturday against Kansas State, but caution is advised. A defense that has been slowly getting better in recent weeks is expected to be strengthened by Sanders’ presence as he gets ready to return to the active roster. But considering his recent ailments, a more cautious approach to his comeback might be required.

In spite of all of this, Shilo yet orchestrated a spectacular pass-only drive that reduced Kansas State’s advantage to one point in the second half. Shilo Sanders’ return could be a big boost for Colorado’s defense if he’s as healthy as before. And there is no doubt that even without him, they’ve improved a lot. But his leadership and experience could take them to the next level. Thus, to witness Shilo in his form, we will have to wait for the next chapter of Buffs.
