Enough is enough! That’s the emotion running through LSU fans as the Tigers saw their third consecutive defeat on Saturday. Losing to No. 14 Texas A&M and No. 11 Alabama? Understandable. But falling 27-16 to Billy Napier‘s Florida Gators, who had been suffering QB dilemmas all season? Fans had enough, and now Brian Kelly’s head is wanted!

Entering as a 3.5-point favorite, it’s not surprising why social media went berserk over LSU’s loss to Florida. This fan, in particular, voiced his disappointments in three parts in a single X comment. They wrote, “Loss to Florida 😂😂😂😂😂 FIRE BRIAN KELLY PLEASE boy I hate being an LSU fan.”

LSU had a chance to compete with its fellow two-loss SEC teams for the College Football Playoff prior to this result. But they were badly beaten inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium as the Gators delivered their first third consecutive loss under Brian Kelly. This has not only wiped off all their playoff hopes but enraged fans enough to overlook the “liability” that firing the HC could bring to the program.

Consider the cost of firing Brian Kelly. LSU has signed the 63-year-old for a 10-year contract of $95 million in 2021. Adam Breneman has previously pointed out that the Tigers’ HC could be a potential $26 million “liability” if he were to get fired. But Kelly going 6-4 also doesn’t align with the required performance that a coach with one of the heftiest contracts should have. So, fans aren’t having second thoughts anymore.

LSU fans want to boot Brian Kelly

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier didn’t have his best performance on Saturday, completing 27 of 47 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown. A disappointed fan wrote, “Garrett Nussmeier is a bum and LSU should fire Brian Kelly immediately. Haven’t felt this confident in a statement since I ordered a cheesy Gordita crunch at Taco Bell last night.” Nussmeier was also sacked a season-high seven times in the last game.

Another fan isn’t about to let Brian Kelly pass, given it’s his fourth year in Baton Rouge. They wrote, “I’m done with Brian Kelly as my head coach fire him today what the f— is this it is YEAR THREE.” Last season saw success as LSU was among the top teams to finish with a 10-3 record. But it’s 6-4 in 2024, 3-3 in the SEC.

Perhaps the expectation that Brian Kelly built up in fans amplified their fury when he failed this season. One heartbroken fan added, “Time to fire Brian Kelly @LSUfootball should have never been hired in the first place.” But if you think this is harsh feedback, the next reaction is a whole new level of spite.

It must be from a truly devastated fan who might have been let down by Brian Kelly more than once. They spitted, “Brian Kelly, you do not deserve to be a head coach in college football. Who do you think you are by yelling to your 18, 19 year olds? You S— a–! You’re UN-HIRABLE!” Ouch! That’s difficult to hear!

Nothing is certain for Brian Kelly and LSU right now. But they still have two more games on their schedule. Will they manage to contain their fans’ fury? Only time will tell.
