Good ol Georgia. Well, what’s even the point of having the top spot in the SEC championship game when you can’t even keep a player committed to your roster? See, Kirby Smart has done massive work this season. After that massive hit by Bama, things started slowing down for the boys. While Kirby Smart and his coaching cannot be doubted, Carson Beck, on the other hand, was an interesting specimen. The dude just started tanking out of nowhere. And now, with the 2025 NFL draft right around the corner, Kirby Smart is searching for a new quarterback. Honestly, he did find a perfect replacement for Jared Curtis, but here we are.
While Smart has managed to recover the reputation of the Bulldogs after the blowout loss against Ole Miss, what he hasn’t managed to recover is the recruitment momentum. See, Curtis flipped out of Georgia because he felt like he still had a lot more opportunities out there. Back on X, Sam Spiegelman shared that Curtis indeed does have opportunities, and it is from teams that have caused Smart a lot of trouble this season. “Elite 2026 QB Jared Curtis is on campus at Ole Miss today for the Egg Bowl. The touted passer will be back at Alabama for the Iron Bowl,” Spiegelman mentioned. If this dude planned to rub salt over Smart’s loss to Ole Miss and Bama, then boy oh boy, is he doing it right.

Let’s get down to the details for this one. Bama vs Auburn this weekend is a massive game. This is Kalen DeBoer‘s first taste of the iron, and it is probably his final shot at redeeming the reputation of the team. Tide is coming off of a loss against a 5-loss team, and Jalen Milreo has been a DISASTER.
For Ole Miss, on the other hand, well, after winning a 28-10 fight against the Dawgs, Lane Kiffin lost to a dysfunctional Gators team. How? Well, DJ Lagway just transformed the Gators’ offense and honestly, Jaxson Dart was just not in the right mindset. Last week was a bad time to be an SEC fan cause with Ole Miss and Bama off the playoff talks, it makes the CFP scene quite wild
While Curtis will be there at both Rebels and Bama, only a win could impress him enough to commit, and we cannot wait to see what DeBoer and Kiffin manage to do. But let’s roll back to Smart, shall we? This year’s recruitment has not been fun for Kirby Smart.

Kirby Smart is taking one step ahead and two steps back
See, Curtis ain’t the only loss the Dawgs had this year. Back on November 2nd, we talked about how Smart was trying his hardest to keep Shamari Earls with the Bulldogs. Sam Webb mentioned, “For Shamari Earls to visit, given the fever with which Georgia tried to get him not to visit, it was very significant that he took the visit anyway.”
What’s your perspective on:
Has Kirby Smart lost his recruiting touch, or is Jared Curtis just chasing greener pastures?
Have an interesting take?
Now, where was this visit? Well, would you believe us if we said that out of everyone, Michigan managed to flip a commit from Georgia? God knows what magic Sherrone Moore and co. have done with the Wolverines’ recruitment because they are quite literally grabbing the best players for the 2025 roster.

It makes sense. They have nothing this year and the Wolverines fans are happy with the Bowl eligibility. What they need to do right now is tuck their head in and focus on what they gonna do to make a comeback next year. With Earls on the roster, it makes things easy. For Smart, on the other hand, he has to figure out the recruitment mess.
