When it seemed like Michigan’s season couldn’t nosedive any deeper, they got served an icy reminder by none other than former Wolverine quarterback John O’Korn. After Michigan and Sherrone Moore‘s crushing and embarrassing loss to No.5 ranked undefeated Indiana Hoosiers in Week 11, O’Korn came out of the underground and didn’t back on social media. In fact, he added gasoline to the already roaring fire in Ann Arbor, as his tweets on X lit up the college football world. And let’s be real, Wolverine fans didn’t know whether to fume or laugh at the sheer irony

O’Korn’s opening shot? He slammed Michigan’s coaching staff, throwing his old program under the bus with lines like, “The players deserve better. We have all the pieces. I believe in Sherrone but his staff is failing him.” Then he twisted the knife further: “Hopefully he makes some big changes after the season.” And the jab that sent the online community into a frenzy? “If you’re wondering how bad things are in Ann Arbor right now… even I was 2-0 against IU.” Talk about a brutal burn from a guy who many thought had drifted into Michigan history obscurity.

But can we even disagree with him? John O’Korn’s commentary about a program once hailed as a powerhouse now failing apart feels painfully accurate. Michigan’s quarterback room is an ugly mess, and everybody expected them to lose to the Indiana Hoosiers, but not this way, though. Losing a winnable match is cray work by the Wolverines’ head coach, Sherrone Moore. The Michigan HC Sherrone helped Indiana Hoosier secure the first 10-win season in their program’s history. The irony is that Sherrone Moore and Co. have now been put in uncomfortable positions by former Michigan mid-quarterback.
For Michigan, it’s not just about taking an L, it’s the stinging realization that their once proud and fearsome offense under Jim Harbaugh is more like a joke now. Going from PERFECT 15-0 and winning the national championship to 5-5 within one year is absolutely diabolical.
Michigan fans started shooting their shots at John O’Korn’s
Wolverine Nation didn’t waste any time clapping back at John O’Korn’s comments on Instagram. As expected, reactions were as spicy and mixed as the Michigan defense this season. One fan wrote, “Hard to say he’s wrong…” acknowledging that even a quarterback as polarizing as O’Korn had a point.
Others took a more defensive stance, pointing out how Indiana’s meteoric rise this season changes the context. “3-7 IU and 10-0 IU are slightly different,” one Michigan loyalist reasoned. And they’re not wrong—Indiana’s story has been wild, but the pain of losing to them still stings.
Of course, some couldn’t resist roasting O’Korn himself. “Forgot this guy even existed,” one commenter joked, “and then I remembered his throw to Jordan Fuller and I remembered why we all forgot about him.” Talk about a throwback memory that Michigan fans would probably love to erase. Then there was the ruthless take: “The worst QB in the Harbaugh Era 🤡.” Ouch. If there’s anything Michigan fans are good at, it’s keeping receipts. In fact Jim Harbaugh’s former QB at Michigan struggled to hold down his position with the Wolverines, finishing with just a 55.9% pass completion rate—and ultimately went undrafted in the NFL.
Another user chimed in with a jab of their own: “Bro talking like he led us to the playoffs or something 😭.” The shade was real, and Wolverine fans weren’t having any of O’Korn’s sudden surge into relevancy. And while the QB criticism kept flying, one comment zeroed in on Michigan’s broader struggles: “Man Michigan getting cooked and they ain’t getting Underwood… this program might be cooked 😭.” An overreaction? Maybe. But in Ann Arbor, 5-star QB Bryce Underwood is seen as their only hope to uplift their 2025 roster.
Whether O’Korn’s remarks were a troll or not, one thing is certain: Michigan’s fall from grace has everyone talking, and not in a good way; we all know it!
