Florida State rolled past the 700-yard mark for the second straight week and absolutely bulldozed Kent State in a 66-10 contest with a single-game school record of 498 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. This was part of a phenomenal 775-yard offensive avalanche that had Doak Campbell screaming throughout 60 minutes. Tommy Castellanos was amazing as usual before the scare that had Doak Campbell holding its breath. He went 10-of-13 for 205 yards while adding 54 rushing yards and two scores. He later returned to the sidelines in full pads, easing the tensions around the stadium as he said it was “all good.”

But amid that whirlwind of injuries, another storyline quietly weaved its way to the headlines when DB Jerry Wilson assessed who might be the Seminoles’ most dangerous weapon in waiting. Redshirt freshman Micahi Danzy turned the first quarter into a track and field event by posting a 64-yarder, which was just at the end around the touchdown. He also hauled in yet another 47-yard reception, which made his total 176 yards on just three touches. The Tallahassee native joined the Seminoles in 2024 and saw some action at the RB position to preserve a redshirt as he made the transition to the wide receiver. His show against Kent State was good enough that Norvell handed him the ceremonial ‘Break the rock’ honor in the locker room.
And that belief also spilled into public when Wilson shared his thoughts on the young receiver. Wilson said, “His ceiling is one of the greatest receivers to ever touch the grass… I love seeing him ball, man. It’s fun.” When you look at Danzy’s resume, you get to know how much this man houses inside himself. He is an ACC champion sprinter who set the ACC record in the 400-meter at 44.38 seconds as a true freshman. He then made All-ACC honors in track before shifting all of his focus to football. He logged 10.57 in the 100m and 20.88 in the 200m, and has that verified speed that keeps the defense guessing.

Wilson doubled down on what makes Danzy such a threat to the opponents, and HC Norvell’s words match that belief. He said, “We have a lot of belief in him… We never would’ve moved him if we didn’t believe in what it could be. He’s somebody that has great ball skills, got great speed… strong with the ball in his hands and can change direction and be able to be a dynamic threat.” The head coach has also doubled down, praising Micahi Danzy’s work habits and execution on verticals and reverses. Now, all this, with the fact that he ‘broke the rock’ against Kent State, cements the belief that there is a fast, wide receiver emerging at FSU.

There is no reason to doubt Micahi Danzy’s ceiling. He has shown verified track dominance, clean positional transition, and vocal buy-in from coaches and teammates. The blueprint of a breakout star is in the making. If this Saturday was a teaser, the full season is definitely going to be electric. No wonder a veteran DB turned his praise into a message for the entire FBS. With Castellanos surging, FSU just added another problem for defenses, and this problem will hit them fast.

Castellanos injury update
Tommy Castellanos scared the entire Seminoles fanbase when his lower left got rolled up late in the second quarter as FSU demolished Kent State 66-10. He already shredded the Golden Flashes with 259 yards and two touchdowns. The sight of that injury scare was unsettling, but FSU kept rolling without him.
But what happened next put everyone at ease. Castellanos returned to the field in full pads and moved around with teammates and told reporters it was “all good” as he described that the scare was something he could manage going forward. He even went on to double down after the win in an Instagram live. He said, “I’m good! I’m straight, y’all,” easing the tensions more. He reaffirmed after the game that he was “100 percent” and had simply been rolled up from behind.
So, the bottom line is this was nothing more than a scare. Castellanos avoided a serious injury, the offense never missed a chance to punish mistakes, and the quarterback left Doak sounding just as confident as he looked before that scare. With Virginia up next, Norvell is going to need his star quarterback a lot more.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Micahi Danzy the next big thing in college football, or just a flash in the pan?
