Shane Beamer and South Carolina ended No. 15 Texas A&M’s seven-game winning streak at sold-out Williams-Brice Stadium. But it was more than that. The 44-20 victory is somehow changing people’s perception of the Aggies, who fell in an unforeseen upset to an unranked opponent. But it’s celebration time for the Gamecocks, who earned this deserving glory.

In a YouTube short by espncfb on November 3, Greg McElroy delivered his take on Texas A&M and South Carolina after their heated clash. While the ESPN analyst urges people not to change their narrative on Mike Elko’s program, he also gave credit to the Gamecocks. He said, “It’s a different team in November, the last few years under Shane Beamer. Against Power 4 competition, they were 6-13 first three months of the season, 8-4 in the final few months.

This not only shows South Carolina’s improvement over the years but also how they became a different team in November. Under HC Shane Beamer, the Gamecocks have a knack for winning November games, with the most notable ones being the back-to-back wins against ranked opponents Tennessee and Clemson in 2022 and three consecutive wins last season.

The first November game of 2024 was a success. Can they maintain their momentum for the upcoming games? It’s not surprising how Shane Beamer joined South Carolina in 2021 and went on to become the highest-paid coach in the program’s history three years later. He not only made a name for himself with consecutive wins in 2022 but also won two games by 20+ points as a 20+ point underdog. He knows how to pull upsets! And Saturday’s game was a revelation to that.

Shane Beamer’s team displays dominance against Texas A&M

The victory against the Aggies marked their first win against a ranked opponent since November 2022, as they improved to 5-3. South Carolina had a home-field and bye-week advantage still coming in as a 2.5-point underdog. But the game had something else in store for everyone—the infamous Beamer upset.

South Carolina dominated almost every quarter of Saturday’s game except for the second when Texas A&M attempted a comeback after trailing 14-3 in the first quarter. By halftime, the teams were tied 20-20 and that’s the last time the score moved for the Aggies. The Gamecocks dominated the second half and added 24 more points on the board to seal the sweet 44-20 victory. QB LaNorris Sellers completed 13 of 27 passes and two touchdowns and also ran 15 times for 106 rushing yards. SC has four more games scheduled for November, with the next one against No. 24 Vanderbilt. Another upset on the cards? We’ll see about that.
