Is Haynes King Heisman worthy? Well, the dual-threat quarterback put on a show last week against Clemson, completing 20 out of 28 throws for 211 yards. He has been consistent in creating offensive variations, making it very difficult for the opponents to adjust. When asked about conversations surrounding the trophy, King said, “They don’t give the Heisman or personal trophies to losers. As long as the team keeps winning, things will handle itself.” A statement that reflects the mentality King embodies.

As long as he keeps winning with Georgia Tech, his Heisman stock will rise. Team performance also affects the player’s Heisman campaign. A 3-0 start is the best start he could have hoped for this season. Another positive for him is that Georgia Tech has a favorable schedule ahead of it, facing the likes of Temple and Wake Forest.
Head Coach Brent Key also had a few words to say about King. “This is a kid that truly epitomizes what the Heisman Trophy is,” said Key on Sirius XM College Sports Radio. “Defensive coordinators and head coaches have to game plan for him. Who in college football elevates their team the way Haynes King does at Georgia Tech?” A statement that can not be refuted by many. Haynes King has demonstrated leadership both on and off the pitch. An example – He suffered a lower-body injury a week before he dismantled the Tigers.

Currently, Haynes King has +3000 odds to win the trophy, according to CBS’s FanDuel Sportsbook. A flawless run in the league, coupled with his consistent performance, could turn the odds in King’s favor.
Heisman-focused Haynes King receives Manning award, while another Manning fails
It seems like Haynes King is walking on water. Even under the spotlight, King performs like he has ice in his veins. A couple of flawless performances this season have led fans to select King as the Manning Award Quarterback of the week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s online fan voting contest. He was also named the ACC Quarterback of the week. A fun fact is that he is one of only three players to have two 100-yard passing and rushing games this season.
On the other end, we have Arch Manning, who has yet to justify his place in Texas this season. A completely different story from King, Arch Manning has failed to start his campaign on a strong note. He carries the legendary name Manning, leading fans and critics to nitpick every move of his. A name that contains generational talents like Archie, Peyton, and Eli is a tough task to carry.

His start with the Longhorns has been rocky, and the numbers back it up. Through three games, he’s completing just 55% of his passes for 579 yards, with 6 touchdowns and 3 picks. Against UTEP, he endured a brutal stretch of 10 straight incompletions that had Longhorn fans booing in Austin. The weight of the Manning name only magnifies every misstep, and so far, his play hasn’t matched the sky-high expectations.
Arch Manning not making the Manning Award list is kinda ironic. But it could also fuel a fire within the young quarterback. Sometimes, anger is the best motivation. As of now, he will watch the award show on the sidelines.
