It’s okay to be confident, but not too confident. Alabama might be acutely aware of this since this is completely out of the ordinary for the squad. Yes, on Saturday, in a historic college football game, Vanderbilt defeated No. 1 Alabama 40-35. It was the first loss against Vanderbilt since 1984. However, Kalen DeBoer was inexcusable and stated, “Obviously extremely disappointed, frustrated, you name what it is, that’s what everyone is in the locker room right now.” But how can Kalen DeBoer’s team now prevent this kind of loss?

Well, during their analysis on October 6, 2024, Andy & Ari from On3 discussed the status of the Crimson Tide and commented, “Don’t kick the ball after the officials spotted it like that’s where more went too far but I’m actually okay with everything that happened.” Moreover, they continued, “If I’m an Alabama fan, [I want] one of the players who’s viewed as a leader to say this is unacceptable, this can’t happen, we can’t be this. Again don’t kick the ball after the officials have spotted.”

Yes, in fact, after Alabama’s loss to Vandy, some players admitted that the team’s unforced errors and penalties were quite “unacceptable.” And DeBoer himself echoed this sentiment, calling them “costly” mistakes. But is it fair to solely blame DeBoer’s coaching style for these issues? Well, let’s not forget that a week ago, Alabama moved up to the top spot after defeating Georgia, which was ranked No. 2, 41-34.

But this time, Vanderbilt gave Alabama an early punch in the mouth as the Commodores quickly took a 14-0 lead after scoring a touchdown and obtaining a pick-six from quarterback Jalen Milroe. Conversely, Diego Pavia, the quarterback for Vandy, saved his finest play for the second half, winning with two touchdowns on 11 of 12 throws.

You know, the leader’s skill or potential is often questioned by fans when the team doesn’t perform well. This time, Kalen DeBoer’s coaching approach infuriated Alabama fans. Now, the question remains, could DeBoer not make it through the season?

Is Kalen DeBoer struggling to coach Alabama?

Georgia was stunned by Alabama in a thrilling upset that propelled them to the top of the AP Top 25. In addition, the Crimson Tide opened as a 22.5-point favorite versus the Commodores at ESPN BET. Thus, Kalen and Co. were completely unprepared for this setback. “We’re going to find out really how much we care about each other and what it looks like moving forward,” the coach said, refusing to give up or make any excuse. However, following this loss, Kalen DeBoer’s coaching style and authority over the team came under intense criticism.

There was not a single supporter of Alabama who would have imagined that this could occur. No doubt! The team had a difficult night. The weak running game, which managed just 10 rushing yards, prevented Alabama’s standout QB Milroe, from having a big impact on the game, despite his remarkable 312 passing yards. It was an extremely intense matchup, as you can imagine.
