The Ducks are enjoying their best season under Dan Lanning’s supervision this year. Now that the team is going to play the first-ever Big 10 game of this season at Penn State, let’s know what Lanning’s secret mantra is. On the December 1st episode of
the number one college football show, the host said, “They’ve got all that money coming in from Phil Knight. They were able to do something with it, right? Dan Lanning is unafraid to go for it on fourth down. He’s going to call a trick play. He’s going to try to bend, claw, scratch—whatever he’s got to do to win the football game.” Who doesn’t know Lanning and his game-changing play calls?
But one thing will surely work, and that is the Oregon Ducks offense against Penn State. The team has a strong offensive line led by talented players like
quarterback Dillion Gabriel, who can be a game-changer for the Ducks. Moreover, their star running back Jordan James makes teasing with him take the Ducks game to another level. The question is, though, can they withstand Penn State’s defense?Should Dan Lanning’s Ducks be worried about the Penn State team?
Well, since the start of the season, the Oregon Ducks’ easy schedule is making headlines for their winning status in the game. Even the Hoosiers faced unranked opponents in the season, but the moment they went up against the Buckeyes, they ended their 10-win streak in the season. But will this be the case with Dan Lanning’s Oregon? It’s hard to say as there are times when top programs have fallen against teams in which everyone has zero faith, like Bama vs. Vandy. But whatever the situation, Oregon is the only undefeated team left in the game and is going up against Penn State next week for a very crucial Big 10 game.
Now Oregon’s offense is strong, but in the case of Penn State, the team is firm with both offense and defense, and it’s surely going to be a tough game for the Ducks because number one Penn State is a ranked team with an 11-1 record in the season and also has plenty of talented players, which can make life hard for the Ducks. One prime example of that is tight end Tyler Warren, who can make game-changing moves against Oregon, and even head coach Dan Lanning agrees to it.
During an interview talking about David Warren, Ducks Dan Lanning said, “He’s obviously an elite player who is a matchup issue.” That’s true, as he is the leading receiver with 81 catches for 978 deceiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. Now you know why the Lanning and team are stressed about Warren. However, the question remains the same: will the team be able to maintain their undefeated status in the game? And if Warren is the player the Ducks should be aware of, then the team needs to fear the bunch.
