Dragan Kesich, a kicker for the Gophers, has been added to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award watch list for 2024. Do you know the award is given to the nation’s top kickers only? So, you get an idea of how talented Dragan is as a kicker. He is among the 30 finalists who were selected for this award. The reason he gets this opportunity of honor is none other than his outstanding performance. 

Last season, he earned the Big Ten Kicker of the Year along with a member of the All-Big Ten First Team because of his exceptional performance. On top of this, he made 23 of his 27 field goal attempts and was perfect on extra points, finishing in the semifinals of the Lou Groza Award in 2023. So, will he make a place in the final this time? Dragan Kesich is the son of Andjelka Kesich and Miroslav Kesich. Both of them play an integral role in Dragan’s football journey. Moreover, Dragan’s parents are the only support system in his life, which boosts his confidence to move forward on and off the field. However, no information is publicly available regarding his parents’ professions. 

However, Dragan Kesich is not the single child of his parents; he has a brother named Nikola. Both brothers have had a keen interest in sports since childhood but in different games. His brother played soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship twice. Not only his brother, but his uncle also comes from an athletic background. His uncle, Milan Lucic, played in the National Hockey League. Dragan’s grandparents were born in Serbia and immigrated to the States. As a result, the first Gen Serbian-American in their family was his father, Miroslav Kesich. However, Dragan was born and reared in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Thus, it is fairly evident that the star kicker’s ethnicity is Serbian-American.

The most fascinating thing, though, is that when his dad calls him, he speaks to him in Serbian. If you go to his house, you will see a Serbian flag in his room. On top of this, he is a big fan of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić, who is a professional Serbian basketball player. So, it seems like he is rooted in his culture and heritage.
