Shilo’s sudden fall from grace happened in the span of a single afternoon. After going undrafted in 2025, the former Colorado safety managed to land a spot as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But his NFL dreams unraveled during an August preseason game against Buffalo, where he was ejected for throwing a punch at a Bills player. The Buccaneers waived him less than 24 hours later. Unclaimed by any other franchise, Shilo went from battling for a roster spot to having no team, no playbook, and no incoming football paycheck.
As they sat together, the mood grew increasingly tense. The conversation moved from harmless offseason plans to the crushing reality of Shilo being waived by the league. Shilo tried to explain why he was still staying in a high-end apartment even after the Buccaneers let him go. To him, keeping a fancy home gave him a small feeling of comfort while his entire world was spinning out of control. Deion questioned why his son was determined to maintain a luxury lifestyle when his professional future was so uncertain. Shilo pushed back, explaining that his poor credit had limited his options and that much of the rent had already been paid.
