One person’s fall is another person’s rise. The 2025 QB class isn’t exactly stacked and for a while, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are the top two projections. But right now, we can’t be so sure, particularly on who will be the QB2 off the board. Ward remains a consensus favorite but his decision to perform at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis? It’s still a mystery.

Meanwhile, Shedeur opted not to throw this week, instead, he’ll be throwing at Colorado’s pro day. He did impress Cleveland Browns HC Kevin Stefanski with an interview this week but scouts want to see these QBs throw. That’s where the Ole Miss quarterback enters the spotlight.

On February 28, NFL Rookie Watch made an interesting X update on Jaxson Dart‘s potential to surpass Shedeur Sanders in the NFL Draft. “Jaxson Dart could reportedly ‘overtake’ Shedeur Sanders as the QB2 in this year’s draft with a strong showing at the Combine according to one NFL GM.” Reportedly a “top name” in this year’s Combine, the Rebels QB has earned “significant interest” from multiple teams including the Giants, Browns, Raiders, Jets, and Seahawks. The report also states that he’s “outdueled names like Jayden Daniels, Drew Allar, and Will Levis.” And his production speaks for itself.

Last season at Ole Miss, Jaxson Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions, completing 69.3% of his passes. He may not have a huge arm but his accuracy, decisiveness, and size make him a coveted NFL prospect. A to Z Sports’ Travis May is impressed with the 2024 metrics profile on the 6’2, 226-pounder saying, “He finished first in yards per play, total yards per game, and top five in EPA/play, adjust yards per pass attempt, and more.

Even Bleacher Report NFL scout Dame Parson is high on Jaxson Dart as a “physically talented quarterback with plus-level playmaking ability.” His Senior Bowl performance in January showcased his playmaking ability. He finished with 2-of-4 attempts for 41 yards including a touchdown scramble and a two-point conversion. He took a couple of sacks, though. With this performance already boosting his stocks, if he shows up in Indy, we could be talking about him as a first-round lock next week. And there’s one team, aside from the ones mentioned above, that could be making a huge push Dart.

Jaxson Dart off to the Los Angeles Rams?

Nothing is set in stone yet but it’s a possibility. Jaxson Dart could be landing with this $8B NFL franchise. There’s a lot of chatter going on about the Rams QB Matthew Staffords future. There are rumors about a potential QB trading this offseason. If that becomes a reality or even if they keep him, they’re in a crucial need to find and develop a successor. And Athlon’s Luke Easterling feels that Dart could be their best bet with their No. 26 pick.

It’s time for the Rams to plan for a future beyond the 37-year-old passer who has dealt with multiple injuries in recent years,” Easterling wrote. “Dart certainly has his flaws, but the tape shows plenty of upside with flashes of brilliance, and his strong performance at the Senior Bowl has him in the first-round conversation.” Perhaps this projection is valid as HC Sean McVay is one of the league’s best QB developers and Jaxson Dart would have the chance to sit, learn, and eventually take over.

For now, it’s all about what happens at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. But if Jaxson Dart delivers at the Combine, don’t be surprised if he’s the one flying up the draft boards leaving Shedeur Sanders in his dust.
