The moment Russell Wilson stepped into the building, the Steelers threw an entire era out the window with Kenny Pickett‘s trade to Philadelphia. Now, if you ask any sane Steelers fan if the $5.3 billion org is still chasing ghosts of the past, then they would happily agree. The whole inability of the org to accept that they cannot recreate the Ben Roethlisberger rise has pushed them back to square one and creates an interesting scenario for the upcoming April draft. See, Mike Tomlin needs an immediate impact. Wilson probably won’t come around for round 2, and this opens doors to a secret QB who has built quite the fortune at Ole Miss—Jaxson Dart. But is everything as clear as it seems?

“I feel like this would be worse than Kenny Pickett 2.0 because, like Kenny Pickett, was at least the first quarterback drafted in that class… Jackson Dart, if selected, will be most likely the third, maybe even fourth quarterback picked in this NFL draft class,” Christopher Carter pointed out on Post-Gazette Sports. See, Dart isn’t a bad QB. Dual-threat capability with over 4k yards in the air and 500 yards on the ground—he was the frontman that made this Ole Miss offense so good, but if Tomlin is so desperate, it makes things a bit tricky.

In search of gold, Tomlin had thrown away the diamonds he had. Pickett was in his prime when the Steelers decided to pull a 30+-year-old Wilson to the team. They thought this would do the team good, but Wilson’s glory days are long gone. Rather, this entire shenanigan showed the fans that Tomlin and Co. still hadn’t gotten off the Roethlisberger high.

But then again, we cannot throw away the Dart pick right away despite it being a Pickett deja vu. This guy has promise and is close to Jayden Daniels’s rise, but are the Steelers patient enough? Topping this all off, Jalen Milroe is also in the race to grab the Steelers’ steering wheel, so that poses another interesting scenario.

Regardless of what happens, Tomlin first needs to set his priorities straight. As much as some fans would hate it, with Pickett’s departure, one thing is clear: nothing is going to hold down the Steelers. For once, you don’t have a 1st round pick falling short of expectations.

But there is still one more threat.

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Steelers stuck in the past, or is Jaxson Dart the fresh start they need?

$6.9 billion and a quarterback crisis

Who can finally be the worthy successor to Aaron Rodgers? Well, ESPN’s Rich Cimini has an answer. “Keep an eye on Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss. He intrigues the Jets,” Cimini had pointed out. But will this be enough to secure the Jets QB position?

Now, we have been following the green since 2013, and their move on the QB position is weird. Back when Geno Smith was drafted as QB1, he was pretty bad on the team. Fast forward a few years, and he is leading the Seahawks to 2 Pro Bowls as their QB1.

The same goes for Joe Flacco. Jets backup QB who was pretty average and called in an early retirement. Then the Browns came calling, and somehow, this guy led them to a playoff spot. Now, devoted Jets fans would say that mismanagement or incompetent ownership is the core problem for the QB crisis, but is that all?

And if it is, then what future does Dart have with the franchise? While it is clear that the Jets could push for the Ole Miss QB—between the Steelers and New York, it feels like Dart is going to get dropped smack-dab in the middle of a messy NFL season.
