The Florida Gators are on the lookout for Billy Napier’s replacement. The head coach was fired after the Swamp crumbled against Mississippi State, bidding farewell with a 22-23 record. Lane Kiffin emerged as a potential candidate to fill the vacant seat at Gainesville. However, another candidate’s name is rising as a potential replacement ahead of Kiffin.

Didn’t David Pollack suggest that the Gators should begin their search aiming for Louisville Cardinals’ coach Jeff Brohm?”There’s one guy that I don’t know that he’s going to be talked about a whole lot, but it’s the first call I would make,” he said. Well, presently, as it seems, Jeff Brohm is emerging as a favorite candidate for Scott Stricklin. According to the data tweeted by On Texas Football, Brohm has +300 odds as Florida’s next head coach, compared to Kiffin’s +200.
Earlier, the Rebels head coach had said, “I don’t comment on these other jobs or these ongoing things in-season,” Kiffin said, per The Clarion Ledger.

On the other hand, Brohm, known for his offensive playbook, is gaining steam as an HC candidate for the Swamp. Pollack has been very clear to express that if it were up to him, the Cardinals’ coach would be his guy at Florida.

Pollack shared his reasoning on his show, “Because Jeff Brohm… he is an elite offensive mind. He’s a top-five play caller in all of college football. He’s proven he can recruit. He can run so many different systems and mesh so many different systems really, really well.”
The Cardinals are coming off a 5-1 record. With a massive win against Carson Beck’s Miami, the head coach was brimming with confidence. “On any given day, we can beat anybody.”
He joined the Cardinals back in 2023 and holds a 24-9 record at Louisville. Having had two previous stints at Western Kentucky and Purdue, with two conference championships on his resume, he is coming across as one of the highly after head coaches in college football, where already 11 head coaches have been fired in less than 10 weeks into the season.
Jeff Brohm’s present contract with the Cardinals is worth $36 million in the college football circuit. This season, he is set to earn $5,981,057, excluding bonus.

Can the Gators sway Jeff Brohm?
Although Florida, the talent hotbed, has the resources to become a lucrative destination, but can they sway Jeff Brohm?
Ever since he joined the Cardinals, the program have been roping in good results. In 2023, Louisville won their first-ever conference championship. With his 24-9 record, he became the first coach since 2014 to win 19 games over two seasons.
Already going 5-2 into the season, they are very much a part of the ACC title race. After beating Mario Cristobal’s Miami in a 24-21 showdown, Brohm’s stock keeps rising. But so do his ACC aspirations. Right now, the program is 2-1 in the ACC slate, defeating the toughest ACC competitor on their schedule. And Florida’s slate is coming off poorly, with a 3-4 record, followed by another slate of challenging games, including Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Florida State.
Certainly, Brohm wouldn’t want to throw away his ACC title aspirations when he is so close to that. In addition to that, he is a Cardinals alum. David Pollack adds. “Now, I’m not saying he’s gonna leave his alma mater, and I don’t think he will. That’s his hometown. Everything about that. Probably not gonna leave,” but for him, Brohm remains a potential candidate for the Gators.
Jeff’s whole family is a die-hard Cardinals fan and was inducted into the Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
