With legal proceedings underway and facing suspension in his collegiate career, Jr.’s future appears to be in jeopardy. He was Nick Saban’s first legacy commit in 2023, before the legend stepped off as a head coach. His father, Dre Kirkpatrick, played at Alabama under Saban’s leadership during the late 2000s, helping the Crimson Tide win its first two national championships. He played eight seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals in his ten-year professional career.
Dre Kirkpatrick’s impact on Alabama’s roster
According to Alabama Athletics, Kirk Patrick has appeared in all eight games this season, mostly on special teams. So far, he has nine stops, including one pass breakup, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss for negative two yards. Although against Louisiana Monroe, he was ejected from the game following a targeting penalty after recording four tackles.
In the next matchup, against Wisconsin, he registered a tackle during the second half of the game. His college career seems to be in jeopardy presently, but in his high school career, he garnered quite a bit of praise. “He’s very instinctive, he loves ball. He understands scheme, he studies it a good little bit,” Dre’s high school coach, Ali Smith praised his former player, per On3. He was named the No. 1 DB in the Gadsden area (by USA Today Network), earning Bama, Auburn, and Missouri’s interest, among other programs.
A former three-star legacy commit from Gadsden, Dre Kirkpatrick stares down at a challenging time ahead.
