Long before everyone knew Kalen DeBoer, the football coach, his daughter Alexis was the one grabbing attention—on the softball field. When he was the OC at Southern Illinois, she was already knocking it out of the park as a six-year-old in Illinois. Then they both had their Washington State chapter. Now, Kalen’s dealing with the Alabama pressure cooker after a not-so-smooth 9-4 start. Meanwhile, Alexis is doing her own thing, sticking with her Huskies softball squad. She just finished an awesome freshman year, proving the DeBoer talent runs deeper than just football. You just know Kalen DeBoer has to be bursting with pride watching her.
On the May 17th episode of The Next Round, Kalen DeBoer had a perfect chance to show off his pride—and this time it wasn’t about football but his daughter Alexis making waves with the Washington softball team. DeBoer couldn’t help but beam. “I’m really proud of her,” he said with a big grin. “She making a name for herself. Just really believe that she had it in her, and probably happened a little quicker than I even thought….She takes care of business in all ways, in the classroom and all that kind of stuff. So I’m a proud dad.”
Last week, Alexis DeBoer made history as the B1G Freshman of the Year—the first Huskies player to snag the honor since 2016. She also earned spots on the All-Big Ten First Team and All-Freshman Team, carving her own legacy. Alexis is now the 7th Husky ever to hit 20+ home runs—and the 1st since Baylee Klingler crushed 24 in 2022. Amidst all this, Alexis teared up celebrating a teammate’s unforgettable moment.

Ranked No. 11 nationally by Extra Innings Softball in 2024, the Bellevue High School standout was a first-team All-State selection and a PGF All-American. Simply put, two DeBoers, two different fields, but one powerhouse family.
So, it was clear Alexis was set for NIL success, and she landed a major deal with the $14.5 billion sportswear giant, Adidas.
