Mike Norvell is riding the high horse as FSU stands No.11 nationally on the 2027 recruiting class. The Seminoles have already locked in four verbal commits, including standout DB Jemari Foreman from American Heritage, plus top-rated safeties Jaylen Scott and Mekhi Williams. However, the road ahead becomes difficult. Safety Kamarui Dorsey has been turning heads in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and guess what? Florida State was firmly on his top schools list. Sure, Dorsey had taken unofficial visits to powerhouse programs like Nebraska, Alabama, Georgia, and Georgia Tech.

But FSU’s recruitment efforts have left an impression. And that’s when new intel scoops in on how Dorsey seems to be flirting with his commitment decision. It all started when Dorsey’s recent unofficial visit to Texas A&M left a big impression on the top-ranked 2027 safety. “My visit at Texas A&M was the best visit I’ve been on so far for sure,” Dorsey said. “What excites me about them is everything. I love their culture, their coaches, and their players for sure. Everything stood out in every way, and everything you would look for in a college. I love what they are doing and what they are building over there for sure.”

This visit stands out because the Aggies are aggressive in developing top defensive talent. That, in turn, fits perfectly with Dorsey’s ambitions. Dorsey made the trip on Saturday to watch Texas A&M take on Mississippi State in a game where the Aggies came out strong with a commanding 31-9 victory. The Aggies’ defense allowed Mississippi State to gather not more than 9 points. For a player like Dorsey, who thrives on defense, seeing a team that constantly pushes the limits on defensive skill-building sends a clear message. And on top of that, Dorsey will get Mike Elko, who is a defensive-minded coach.

During his time as Texas A&M’s defensive coordinator, Elko transformed their defense into a national powerhouse. His philosophy was based on aggressive third-down strategies and the ability to force turnovers, which is a perfect fit for a versatile, ball-hawking safety like Dorsey. And as a matter of fact, Dorsey’s impression of the Aggies isn’t really based on the fundamentals. “How A&M compares to others is that they are very down to earth from the start,” Dorsey said. “They keep it real with you and let you know how they feel about you, and just 100 percent truthful. Like, I got along with everyone on the staff, literally everyone. They are very high energy, want the best for you, and you can be yourself all the time, but they also expect the best out of you, while feeling that common ground of both.”

The Aggies’ 2027 recruiting showcase

The Aggies are not even lagging behind FSU in the 2027 recruiting trail. So far, the Aggies have secured a handful of promising commitments. They have a three-star athlete, Hakeim Frampton’s committment as of October. And on the offensive side, they have sincerely secured QB Jayce Johnson and OT DeMarrion Johnson. The Aggies also have extended offers to highly regarded defensive prospects like four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife and edge rusher Kaden McCarty, both key to bolstering their defense.

The fact is, the team’s 5-0 start, their best since 2016, has created serious momentum. College Station becomes a must-visit spot for top recruits eyeing a competitive SEC program on the rise. This is where Kamarui Dorsey slots perfectly. As the nation’s No. 1 safety for 2027, Dorsey embodies the type of player that fits Elko’s defensive vision.

His recent glowing visit to Texas A&M only reinforced how he sees himself thriving under Elko’s guidance, where technique and instinct are honed to NFL levels. If the Aggies continue their winning ways and showcase player development, landing Dorsey could be a cornerstone moment in their 2027 class.
