The Georgia Bulldogs, led by Kirby Smart, have already sealed their 2026 class with five-star commitments like Kaiden Prothro and Jared Curtis. The’ commitment of Curtis is special since he is the 2027 undeclared QB1 after Gunner Stockton and already commands a $1.8 million NIL value. Moreover, Kirby Smart is serious about him and is out to get reinforcements for Curtis, offering a five-star RB, already committed to Penn State.

According to recent reports, Kemon Spell, the 2027 running back, has finally received an offer from Kirby Smart’s Georgia. “Georgia offered @KirbySmartUGA @DHill39 @wpialsportsnews @PA_TodaySports @McKTigersFB #Blessed,” wrote the RB on his X account. Ranked 1st in his position and 8th overall nationally, Kemon Spell has the potential to become a solid starter in 2027 to fuel the Jared Curtis era.
Standing at 5’10” and 210 lbs, Spell committed to Penn State last year in August. It was a coup for Penn State after Terry Smith and Stan Drayton’s recruiting finally bore massive fruit. However, despite the commitment, Curtis hasn’t stopped exploring other programs and determining the best program for himself. For instance, he visited Ohio State in August, attending the Texas game. On3’s Hayes Fawcett even touted OSU, Tennessee, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, and Alabama to flip him. But now, UGA is also in contention.

Georgia, in its 2026 class, doesn’t have a quality RB like Kemon Spell, and having just Joe Lamar, a thirteenth-ranked RB, won’t cut it. Similarly, the 2027 class, too, is without an RB commitment yet, despite Smart having landed 4 prospects so far. Kemon Spell then becomes a guy who can start to give Kirby Smart the required production just from his freshman year.

His frame might not feel too physical, but the McKeesport, Pennsylvania, native is dubbed a “tank and a jackrabbit” as per 247 Sports’ Andrew Irvins. The RB’s athleticism is well developed for his age, and his work rate already makes him a collegiate starter. For instance, in Pennsylvania’s WPIAL Class 4A playoffs, he put in 280-yard and 274-yard rushing performances, showing his explosiveness on the field. That essentially makes him a built workhorse, and can benifit Kirby Smart greatly. But what are UGA’s chances for landing him?
Kemon Spell stays loyal to Penn State despite multiple interests
According to On3’s predictions, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, FSU, and Michigan are trailing behind Penn State as the Nittany Lions’ probability of keeping keeps shrinking. Currently, James Franklin’s team has a 60.3% probability of retaining the guy, but Penn State’s on-field woes, including a gut-wrenching loss against UCLA, are making matters worse. Despite that, the RB is showing unparalleled loyalty.

Despite an Ohio State visit in August, Kemon Spell publicly remained loyal to Penn State. “When I was talking to Ohio State, they knew I was locked in with Penn State,” said the RB. As for the meaning of his visit, the RB said it “meant nothing” for him. Notre Dame is another candidate that is after Spell, since Penn State’s RBs coach, Ja’Juan Seider, switched blue and white for South Bend’s blue and gold. That said, Penn State’s current RB coach has built a good relationship with the RB.
“The best running backs coach in the nation. Everything about him is amazing. Not just the coaching, but the love from him is amazing,” said Spell about Stan Drayton. As for Kirby Smart’s UGA, the recruitment has just officially started, and it remains to be seen how it plays out. We can surely see a visit on the cards, maybe in December. However, Penn State’s proximity to his home could stand out to be the biggest factor in Spell’s final decision. All in all, Kirby Smart might need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to finally make a flip possible. Maybe a good NIL deal or a significant revenue-sharing contract?
