Week 5 and the Rebels vs. Tigers clash has begun. The first quarter wrapped up nicely and tight, with the Tigers leading the scoreboard, 7-3. Aside from the SEC bout raging over the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, a budding romance has spiraled down to the Game Day Scenario. And it’s making some noise.

Amid all the fiery chaos at the trenches, with the hooting of the fans ringing around the stadium, the announcers of the game also jumped into the Landry-Weeks saga. Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, announced her relationship with LSU LB Whit Weeks on social media recently, and the internet broke. The stadium also watched the Ole Miss Student, clad in a navy blue polka dot dress, adorning a patch, screaming No. 40, and the onlookers took the hint. Landry is supporting her beau, Weeks, whose jersey number is 40. Although fans had a funny feeling about this, making it a father vs. son event for Landry.
Sean McDonough revealed that Landry and Kane met each other back in March. But exuding ‘dad energy,’ Kiffin had had a background check on the Weeks family. As McDonough put it, the head coach asked former Alabama colleague turned SEC foe Kirby Smart about a family check on the Weeks family.

Undoubtedly, the relationship status was too much to take for some of the fans. However, Lane kept on Landry’s side, approving the relationship. “Whit is an awesome kid and comes from a great family,” Kiffin said in a press conference this week. “I’m glad those two are happy together. It has nothing to do with the game itself. It’s a really great family.”
Although her social media stunt must have taken him by surprise. Kiffin’s wife, Layla, told him, as commentator Greg McElroy put it, that he was surprised about Landry announcing her relationship on the internet when he himself keeps stirring up things online. But maybe there’s one family member who does not approve of Landry cheering on for Ole Miss.

Whit Weeks’ younger sister with Landry’s decision
While Landry might be wearing Whit Weeks’ jersey No. 40 on her dress, announcing her support, that doesn’t mean she has left the Ole Miss camp. The Ole Miss student, who is also a part of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, is loyal to her school. She adores the Rebels up to such a point that, back when Kiffin had an offer from the Auburn Tigers, Landry’s reluctance to leave Ole Miss prompted the head coach’s decision to remain at Oxford.
On Wednesday as well, the head coach shared a playful message on his social media. He posted Landry’s photograph when she was an infant, with the caption, “Will be rooting for (the) rebs!!!”. The message was clear.
But Whit Weeks’ younger sister, Kate, is upset about Landry rooting for her dad. “Whit told us his 12-year-old sister, the youngest of the four children in the family, is very upset that Landry is not cheering for Whit, her boyfriend,” McDonough said during the first quarter. “It’s blood you’re talking about, Landry and her Dad.”

Naturally, she would want her brother’s LSU to emerge victorious. The whole Weeks family was present on the stands to cheer on Whit. The ESPN broadcast gave a glimpse of the whole family seated together. It’s five minutes left to halftime, and Ole Miss has got the lead, 10-7. The Tigers had the early momentum in the first quarter, with 7-3, but a touchdown from Kewan Lacy tilted the scales in the Rebels’ favor.
One thing is for sure: whichever team emerges victorious, either way, Landry Kiffin will be on the winning side, celebrating on the sidelines.
