With the entire SEC collapse, the only team that had the worst downfall was Ole Miss. See, no matter what you say, you have to agree that Lane Kiffin did a ton for the Rebels this year. This man, with his roster, managed to change the entire atmosphere back at Oxford with the win over Georgia. The defense Lane Kiffin built with a lot of help from his QB Jaxson Dart managed to hold back one of the strongest offenses in the country to only 10 points. But then you turn on your TV on November 23rd to watch the Gators game and you wonder what in the world was going on with these guys.

All of these setbacks make you wonder if Kiffin is going to stick with Ole Miss going into 2025 or if he will find a new team to coach in the NFL. While we don’t have a solid answer to it yet, we do have some cryptic hints from the man himself. Kiffin took to his Instagram stories to share a post. ‘Stop looking for happiness in the same place you lost it’ – the post had this to say, but it is what Kiffin wrote in the caption that makes you think he might switch over to the NFL. “Wasted 4 years of my life doing this. It was exhausting. Break Free,” Kiffin mentioned.

Now, it doesn’t take a genius to decipher that Kiffin had coached the Rebels for 4 years now. See, him moving to the NFL won’t be a bad thing. Kiffin already has the NFL experience. He was the HC for the Raiders during the 2007-2008 era.

But here is the thing; sticking with the Rebels and aiming for the playoffs next year would be a much better move. There were some flaws which still have to be ironed out. The overall performance from the roster has been a mix. The Georgia game was a blast, but then there were the 2 losses to LSU and Kentucky.
And if we talk about the Gators game, then you can say it was jinxed from the start. With Dart making pretty weird decisions when it came down to the passes to the defensive line, just failing to stop DJ Lagway. Still, all hope is not lost cause the playoff could still be in the picture for Kiffin and Co.

Hanging by a thread: Ole Miss Rebels
It’s kind of weird to live in a year where the Big 10 teams are dominating the charts and the SEC giants are barely surviving. The playoff picture this year is going to be great and you know what? Rebels still have a shot.

With Miami and Clemson both losing their final games of the season last weekend, this has opened up a spot on the 12-team bracket. Now the debate is; who is more deserving to get in? On the list, we got Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Alabama.
When it comes down to Ole Miss vs SC debate, then the Rebels take the cake. Kiffin not only managed to win against South Carolina on the Gamecocks home turf but they also managed to wipe the floor with a 27-3 win.

However, when it comes down to Bama, the debate starts favoring the Tides. You can argue that the loss to Vandy is a bad look and the Oklahoma loss adds insult to injury, but you also have to keep in mind that in terms of fame, Bama is still the bigger name.

Now will the committee think the same? We don’t know. Still, as long the tomorrow’s CFP rankings are not out, all hope is not lost for Kiffin and Co.
