Lane Kiffin loves to stir the pot real hard when it comes to his opponents. And the Magnolia Bowl just gave him the perfect chance to hit Brian Kelly right where it hurts the most. Both teams started it off back in 2008, and since then, it’s a tradition that’s rooted in their hearts. And this 24-19 win against LSU feels much more special for Kiffin and his team because it’s their 6th win against the Tigers. So, it’s pretty obvious why Kiffin’s right behind Kelly and his team. But he didn’t leave Whit Weeks out of it, which makes it clear that the game comes first for him.

Ole Miss handed LSU their first ranked loss this season, which makes their SEC score 1-1. Now, the real deal behind this loss was Coach Kelly’s offense, which particularly struggled on third downs and only converted 2 of 11 attempts. And their ground game was also ineffective, as they just put up 57 yards and 1 touchdown on 22 carries. This gave Lane Kiffin a perfect moment to take a classic shot at Kelly as he took Rebels mascot Juice Kiffin’s X handle and posted a picture of a hat, which is engraved with “New hat just dropped!” and the caption? Brutal. “Brian Kelly Can’t Run The Damn Ball,” it read.

Then he didn’t just stop at that; he hit X, posting a picture of Brian Kelly’s words before the game kicked off on September 25 that reads, “We’re looking forward to it. We’re going to keep that Magnolia Trophy right here in Baton Rouge, right where it deserves to be, and our guys are excited for the opportunity.” Now that we know it didn’t happen, it tells us perfectly what Kiffin’s trying to point at. But can we blame him? LSU just managed 4.5 yards per play, and their backup QB, Trinidad Chambliss, had his 3rd consecutive 300-yard passing game, and they just gave up 254 yards to LSU’s offense.

But his sarcastic take on Whit Weeks, who’s also dating his daughter, Landry Kiffin, was classic. As ESPN posted his post-game bite on X, Kiffin said, “I’m looking for Whit [Weeks] right now to see if we covered the over.” This is a possible reference to the game’s over-under betting line. This isn’t the first time Kiffin has had fun banter with Weeks. A few days back, when Landry made her relationship official with him on X, Kiffin made a subtle comment saying, “take the over,” with a football emoji.

Look, LSU messed it up real bad, as they were the team that just allowed 4 touchdowns in their first four games, but against the Rebels, they gave up three touchdowns and another 80-yard drive that turned into a field goal. But even Lane Kiffin’s team was making rookie mistakes like recording turnovers in Tigers territory and even putting up massive numbers of penalties. That’s right. The Rebels had 14 penalties for 109 yards. This was a crucial game for LSU, as they could have solidified their playoff run, but they couldn’t run the football almost the entire game. And ended up making things easier for Ole Miss both on and off the field.

However, with that loss, things even turned ugly for Whit Weeks in the game.

A tough game day for Whit Weeks

Lane Kiffin might be going all sarcastic on Whit Weeks and LSU after the game, but things got real ugly for him. In the first quarter, Weeks was seen throwing up on the sidelines with 6 minutes remaining, which looked like possible dehydration after the Ole Miss offense kept the ball for long, which ended up making the defense wait for long, and the heat got right into him.

Then later in the second half, Weeks came off to the sidelines with a possible wrist injury, even though he didn’t go into the medical tent for this, but trainers were right behind him checking the depth of the injury. All this took place while Weeks was trying to make a tackle on an Ole Miss screen pass near the sidelines. But despite that, he came back on the field again.

But then came the shocker when Whit Weeks suffered an apparent leg injury after he attempted to make a tackle. After that, he didn’t return to the game, and LSU ended up losing against Ole Miss. Injuries aren’t new for Weeks, as last year in the Texas Bowl, he suffered a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia while playing against Baylor. But losing a guy like him would be really messy for Brian Kelly and his team. Despite all the setbacks, he had 4 tackles and a fumble recovery. Now, let’s hope Weeks gets back on the field next week and LSU makes a massive comeback.
