Ole Miss might have crushed their playoff hopes after an upset loss over the Florida Gators, but Lane Kiffin continued adding stacks to his 2025 roster to mount a better season ahead. Last month, the veteran coach announced a bombshell update on his recruitment front taking five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham on board. The high-yielding hiring spree started to bear fruit after a decisive 28-10 Georgia win. The Mississippi native had been on the watch and probably instantly made up his mind that he wanted to be a part of his blueblood. Shortly after, Cunningham sealed the deal with the Rebels in a straight move. But guess what, even before he gets to settle in the team, the kid starts to have a sway with the recruits. He’s reportedly moving the needle for Auburn 5 star QB commit, Deuce Knight.

On3 Vice President Steve Wiltfong and OMSpirit’s recruiting analyst Zach Berry have recently spilled that Knight will head to Oxford today for the Egg Bowl. Looks like a final push from Kiffin to leave a lasting impression on the Tigers’ commit and grab another big name for his flourishing 2025 class. Just a couple of months have passed since the 6-foot-4.5-inch de-committed from Notre Dame. But it seems he’s not content with what the Tigers had in store for him, hence not sleeping on the other schools. And Ole Miss has been a long-time suitor. But when a fellow Mississippi native helps navigate a connection, it’s supposed to make some difference. ”Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham cutting it up with Deuce Knight, the Auburn quarterback commit was back in Oxford Steve,” said Josh Newberg as part of the latest intel recruit intel.

‘Caleb citing you know he’s on campus this weekend. He’s got a relationship with Duce. He’s trying to help recruit him so we’ll see yeah,” said Steve Wiltfong.

The Rebels so far didn’t get a quarterback commit in the 2025 class to bet a dime for, although red-shirt freshman Austin Simmons made his presence through short yet catchy moments within his field time. But the Rebels need more. A guy to look up to, a guy to carry the offense or work alongside the O-line players to chisel out the best for the team. Regardless if Duce comes up and fills that void at the QB position or not, the Rebels won a jackpot in landing a prolific WR like Cunningham.

What does Caleb Cunningham’s arrival mean to the Ole Miss?

He already started to make things happen for the team on the roster development. His addition means a lot for Ole Miss’s future. Cunningham’s insane speed and his knack for making tough catches will bring out a lot to the table when he gets the proper backup from an already well-balanced receiving corps the Rebels.

Cunningham developed an emotional bond with the Rebels within a very short time, but the mental push will enable him to add that extra personal touch to his every performance for the team. ”I can’t lie, Ole Miss is a great place to be. From the fans to the kids to the players to the coaches, everyone is cool. They know who I am there, that means a lot to me, and the love is real. Everywhere I go, they tell me to come to the Sip,” the former Alabama player confessed in a pre-signing interview. It’ll sure be exciting to watch him take the Rebels to new heights.
