We gotta lane with Lane on this one. “We don’t just beat Top-25 teams, we beat the sh-t out of them.” Which Top Team are you even on about? Curt Cignetti had a Cinderella season with the Hoosiers. The first year in and an undefeated 10-win run is a big deal, but when it was finally time to face off against a team with a pulse, you lost 38-15. 83 rushing yards with 68 passing yards is some record low. You somehow even made it to the playoffs, but at what cost? No, B1G title game. No first-round win. For once, we agree that Lane Kiffin‘s rant about the playoffs makes sense!!

“I’m confused,” was all Kiffin had to say on his Instagram story while sharing Curt Cignetti’s infamous “we beat the sh-t out of them” remark from College GameDay. It’s kind of poetic that Cignetti said this right before Hoosiers got knocked out by Notre Dame. Keep in mind, don’t let that 17 points from Indiana fool you. Throughout the entire first half and the 3rd quarter, IU was only at 3 points. The Irish defense curb-stomped the team out and stopped them at 63 rushing yards. Lower than the Bucks game. “Way to keep us on the edge of our seats committee… Riveting.” This comment from Kiffin suddenly starts making a lot of sense, huh?

But then again, even Lane had flaws that we could not dismiss. A loss to a disorganized Gators team and an LSU team is not a good look. More so because in both the games, your elite QB had almost zero presence, and your handpicked defensive line that had stopped Georgia to 10 points couldn’t do anything.

However, credit where credit is due. Fans do owe IU and Cignetti an apology. After that entire ND vs Georgia game, getting 17 points over 10 does mean something, right? But we do understand that Georgia walked into this showdown with hands behind their back. Carson Beck was out, and they only had Gunner Stockton to lead the charge. Not a bad QB, but not good enough to handle playoff pressure.

Irish barely allowed the Dawgs to do anything, and another SEC team was out of the playoff run. One thing is for sure: this season was for the underdogs. B1G boys are rocking the charts right now, only Texas being the sole survivor of the SEC slaughter fest.

However, moving on from the playoffs, even the Bowl games, was a disaster for SEC talents. Did this 2024 season really reveal how “over-hyped” the SEC has been as a conference, or has the NIL era truly changed rosters, pushing forward a new narrative? Bama lost to Michigan. SC lost to Illinois. Oklahoma lost to Navy. Texas A&M lost to USC. All losses came from a margin of 6 to 1 point. But somehow, Ole Miss survived.

The largest Bowl win in Ole Miss history

52-20 win over Duke was wild. Jaxson Dart was on point with his dimes. Over 400 yards with 4 passing touchdowns. The dude had a completion of more than 70% in that game. The last time the Rebels got a 40+ win was during the 2015 Sugar Bowl against the Cowboys. 48-20 over Oklahoma State.

At least Kiffin put his money where his mouth is. Yeah, he couldn’t make it to the playoffs and was called out multiple times, but he still won the Bowl game. Despite the entire narrative behind Bama and South Carolina not being in the playoffs while being deserving, it goes down the drain if you check the tapes of the UM or Illini game.

Cannot wait for an SEC comeback season in 2025. If it even happens…
