Just days before Ole Miss played the LSU Tigers, Lane Kiffin‘s daughter, Landry Kiffin, revealed that she was dating LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, putting Lane, the head coach, in one of those “only in college football” situations. And, yes, Whit is not just any player, he’s a Watkinsville, Georgia native who plays alongside his two brothers and for a rival team. Fans had a field day, of course, and Lane? As he led his team to victory, he took pleasure in teasing his daughter’s boyfriend. It’s equal parts classic Kiffin humor, football rivalry, and family drama.

But no one expected him to go all out on his daughter’s boyfriend. In a recent episode of Pardon My Take, Kiffin expressed his surprisingly laidback yet cheeky attitude toward life and football “Things happen, you think, oh, this is terrible… A firing, a breakup, a daughter dating a linebacker on the other team. All those things that you might think are terrible. You don’t know. They might end up being wonderful things, right? … I just embraced it, ran with it, and Wit’s a great kid, great family.” Kiffin also made it obvious that he wasn’t holding back on his humor or intensity when discussing Whit Weeks, the 20-year-old linebacker for LSU.

The real fun began when Kiffin accelerated the Rebels’ tempo to an almost punishing level during the Ole Miss vs. LSU game. When the host finally came up with the question “Did you Did you feel a little bad that the tempo though did make him puke?” Kiffin replied “They always say God doesn’t give you things you can’t handle….Hey man, we got to win the game, you know, and even though I embraced it and he’s a great kid and everything, we might have increased the tempo just a little bit, you know, like 50 plays in the first half, see if we can get this guy to throw up,.” That awkward moment of Weeks throwing up on the sidelines went viral. It was shared repeatedly on social media by fan pages, and Kiffin’s response was just a sarcastic, laughing emoji.

Despite all of the jokes, Kiffin truly respects Whit and his bond with Landry tremendously. When an analyst asked him “Is it is it is it a recruiting violation to talk to Whit?” Kiffin smiled and said, “That’s a good question”The host quickly added, “I don’t mean to blow the whistle on you. I was just curious.” Kiffin who didn’t stop with teasing about the tempo, he also poked fun at the recruiting rules too. He fired back jokingly about bringing Whit to Ole Miss, “I was like, Hey, you know, if you’re not going to the NFL, that portal’s coming up in here.” It was classic Kiffin, combining football, family, and playful mischief in a way that only he can do.

Lane Kiffin trolls his daughter’s boyfriend after winning

College football drama is more than just what happens on the field, as Lane Kiffin is well aware. His daughter, Landry, sent fans into a frenzy when she made her relationship with LSU linebacker Whit Weeks official on Instagram just before the Ole Miss-LSU game. Landry decided to drive five hours at 3 am overnight to surprise Weeks midweek, while calling it an “impulsive decision.” Fans immediately joked that she was gathering intel for her father, but Lane quickly dismissed that notion, praising Whit as “an awesome kid” from a “great family” and emphasizing that the romance had nothing to do with football.

When game day hit, Kiffin’s playful trolling really took off. The Rebels beat LSU 24-19, and Kiffin was amused by Weeks’ reaction to Ole Miss’ high-tempo offense. Kiffin told Kirk Herbstreit and Joey Galloway, ““I saw the Whit stuff and the throw up and all that, I was just like, “This is really a movie or something, this made for TV'”Even though Weeks had a difficult first half due to the fast-paced plays that were meant to exhaust him and the pressure of the Magnolia Bowl, he was unable to leave the field. Fans were given a full-on plot that resembled something from a sports romantic comedy, thanks to Lane’s strategic fourth-down calls and sideline antics.

Kiffin didn’t let the victory go unnoticed, even after it was over. He made sure to emphasize how cinematic the entire experience felt while jokingly telling fans to “take the over” in response to social media comments about Landry and Whit. Kiffin welcomed the chaos, humor, rivalry, and family in a way that only he can, even though he was unable to locate Weeks after the game because “he was already up the tunnel..you don’t really want, ‘Hey man, great job,” he said. Fans are left wondering what will happen next as Ole Miss, who are still undefeated at 5-0, prepares to play Washington State on October 11.
