Success just keeps coming for Lane Kiffin this year. Not only does he have a 4-0 record in the season so far, but he’s also received some good news from the NFL regarding one of his former players. Jaxson Dart is going to take his first snap in the league for the Giants. His former head coach sure is proud, as he sees it all play out for the QB. “He’s awesome,” he told Pat McAfee. It’s a moment those close to him won’t be missing. Lane Kiffin, too, is trying to make time to see his prodigy do what he was preparing him for,

HC Brian Daboll shocked fans by announcing that Jaxson Dart would be the QB1 for the Giants after Russell Wilson’s horror show against the Chiefs. The Giants have started the season in the worst possible manner, losing all three of their opening games, and something needed to change. Daboll stood by his decision to bring Dart to the forefront and is confident that the QB can “go out there and compete.” Lane Kiffin, who has a huge hand in Dart’s development, is eager to see his former star in action on the biggest stage.

“We actually have a bye. …Maybe I can go see him and play,” he said on 24th September, on the Pat McAfee Show. The Rebels get a week off after their upcoming LSU clash and will return on October 11 against Washington State. Dart will likely hold on to his newly earned job until then, considering Wilson is yet to show a spark. This is also a crucial season for Brian Daboll, since he’s already in hot water. Not many NFL teams can surprise audiences by coming back from such a start. But Dart is different. That whopping total of 11,970 yards and 81 TDs is proof of the skill in him. Now, he has to translate those numbers in the big league.

It had already become evident that Wilson would soon be taking a backseat, freeing up space for the newbie to shine. Jaxson Dart left an impression with his preseason performance. He went 32 of 24 in passes, threw for 372 yards, and scored thrice. Lane Kiffin threw light on the aura he exudes. “I do really enjoy, like, that great relationship with Jaxson Dart, when you find somebody that really commands the team in the locker room. And he’s enjoyable to be around,” he added.

With the success of Jaxson Dart, Lane Griffin shed further light on how Ole Miss QBs find it easy to transition to the NFL compared to other programs.

Lane Kiffin on how his QBs are shaped for college football and the NFL

If Ole Miss had made the playoffs last year, Dart would’ve been able to quell some of the doubt that’s arising in the community. He played 3 years as a Rebels QB, and ended up becoming the winningest quarterback in the history of the program. He also dethroned Eli Manning as the leading passer in program history. But Lane Kiffin didn’t coach him to just be a star in CFB.

Kiffin explained how he readies his QBs for excellence both in college football and the NFL. “Our system really has a lot of NFL elements in it offensively for them. Protections, routes, different runs, and stuff. We just happen to go really fast. And I think over time, defensive coordinators have said that — including Coach Saban — what Ole Miss does, what this system does is it gives you problem plays, but goes really fast also. And so I think that’s helped our quarterbacks play really well,” the HC told McAfee.

Kiffin was the reason why Alabama shifted from a traditional style to a dynamic mode. This was something that became RPO-oriented, had more pre-snap options, and also included package plays. But it also focused on quarterback development in both passing and running. Kiffin’s efforts are showing, as Jaxson Dart gears up to make his much-awaited debut in the league. It will be a full-circle moment for the HC when he gets to see his star product deliver in the NFL.
