Week 5 of the 2025 season will see Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss take on Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers in a heavy SEC bout. While the head coaches have made some headlines with their comments, Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Landry Kiffin, grabbed the most eyeballs. A few days ago, Landry revealed that she is dating Whit Weeks, who plays as a linebacker for LSU. That makes this game a father vs boyfriend event for Landry.

Hours before the kickoff, Landry showed off her outfit for the game. The Ole Miss student is rocking a customised outfit. Clad in a navy blue dress, adorned with polka dots. The hem of the dress had a patch attached to it, screaming her loyalty. She captioned the photograph, “Happy Gameday,” with the No. 40, written in large white font (on the patch) as she cheers for her boyfriend. No. 40 is the jersey number of Whit Weeks.
Into the 2025 season, the 6’2, 225-pound linebacker had eight tackles, four solo. It’s just week 5, and his portfolio is already looking stacked. Last season, the breakout star registered a whopping 120 tackles. Last campaign, Brian Kelly’s Tigers edged out Ole Miss with 29-26, and Weeks played a critical part in the Tigers’ win. He chipped in 18 tackles. He was a 2024 first-team All-SEC selection. On the other hand, Landry, 20, is a student of Ole Miss and a memeber of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

It was just recently, when, Landry’s social media post broke the internet. The college football took a pause and scratched its head, for it was the SEC bout about to unfold, and the Kiffins had already made the headlines. To cheer up her boyfriend, they went to meet Whit, and her efforts peaked through the SEC clamor. “Landry powered through the 5-hour drive with an energy drink to surprise Whit Weeks🥹⚡,” the Bleacher Report captioned the post. Although this wasn’t her first public acknowledgement of her relationship. Earlier this month, in a TikTok video filmed with the help of her sister, Kate, she referred to Weeks as her boyfriend.
But the fans clamored. Pointing her wholesome efforts to meet her beau, five hours to “sneak intel” for her dad. Outkick’s Trey Wallace posted, “I really love College Football Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, letting the public know she’s dating LSU LB Whit Weeks, 5 days before LSU and Ole Miss play? This is peak mind games,” she wrote on X. It became an uproar.

Lane Kiffin issues a blunt reply on Landry’s relationship
Some fans had been clearly upset over the duo’s relationship, but Kiffin was quick to put it to rest. The head coach responded, bulldozing the comments. He replied to Wallace’s post. “Take the over 🏈.” Rival teams they might be, but Kiffin dotes on Landry’s boyfriend. “Whit is an awesome kid and comes from a great family,” Kiffin said in a press conference this week. “I’m glad those two are happy together. It has nothing to do with the game itself. It’s a really great family.”

The message was clear: the fam might sit on opposite stands during GameDay, but Thanksgiving dinner is always together. Even Dave Portnoy cut through the nonsense. On being asked about whether the couple’s budding romance is any distraction to the upcoming sport. He flushed the possibility down the drain. “Absolute non-factor,” he said on the Big Noon Kickoff, during the #Ask Dave segment.
He continued. “Would you rather have your daughter dating a star linebacker or a little TikTok dance kid?… Give me the football player!”. It would be an interesting game for the college football to witness, not just because of the SEC label, but whoever is the victor, either way, Landry belongs to the winning team.
