Talent breeds talent, and Lane Kiffin’s son, Knox Kiffin, is trying to prove just that as his football career is still in its infancy. Lane Kiffin’s evolution from a “hotshot wunderkind” to a grounded leader in successes with Ole Miss is evidence of great things to come. To be honest, for Ole Miss fans, the head coach is more than a coach; he is a revolutionary, a cultural icon, with a 44-18 record on the field. And his son? Well, Knox is following in his father’s footsteps at Ole Miss, and with a recent massive move? Expect more fireworks at Oxford in the coming years.
Ole Miss not only benefited from Lane Kiffin’s heroics season after season as the team finished 11-2 in 2023 and 10-3 in 2024. Just last season, we saw the chemistry of Jaxson Dart and Kiffin, as the head coach even proclaimed his love for Dart recently. “There’s a way you want your son to be; that’s what you want to have.” But this is not the only reason why the head coach loves staying at Oxford; it’s mainly because of his family.
“I needed Oxford a lot more than it needed me. Even since then, Landry at the time came here and went to Oxford High School, moved here with me to come to Ole Miss.” Kiffin recounted to Paul Finebaum last year, as he reminisced about how his daughter Landry was the reason the head coach rejected the Auburn job in 2022. But the folks at Oxford reciprocated, too, and Landry, herself an Ole Miss student, is widely known as the ‘lucky charm’ of their football program. So, Knox Kiffin is following Landry’s footsteps.

As per recent reports by On3, Knox Kiffin is now joining the Oxford High School (MS) football team and will start attending from June 2nd. On3’s high school X account posted. “2028 QB Knox Kiffin is set to join the Oxford High School (MS) football team on June 2nd, @BradLoganCOTE reports. Knox is the son of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.” The move to Oxford will be quite incredible for Knox for several reasons.
Knox, who last year played for Palos Verde, California, didn’t see much varsity action even though the team went on to win the California State title. Now moving to Oxford, the 6’0”, 170 lb QB will look to battle it out for the starting job on a team that went 6-5 last fall and later finished 35th in the state.
In terms of schedule, too, the move looks promising for the QB, who may get plenty of opportunities to showcase his talent. This is because this year the team is slated to face seven teams that finished inside the top 25 rankings last year. Moreover, the schedule also includes fixtures against Tupelo, who finished ranked 1, and Madison Central, who were ranked 8th nationally.

Knox gets his 7th college offer
As for the college career of the young QB, he is a 2028 prospect and still has plenty of time to prove himself. A sophomore right now, Knox’s football heritage will surely come in handy since his grandfather, Monte Kiffin, was a celebrated football head coach, and his uncle, Chris Kiffin, is a defensive analyst at Ole Miss. Maybe this is the reason why the player has already received his seventh offer. But is it?
Knox, being just 16 years old and a sophomore, had received 6 offers previously, with the first Power Four offer last May from SMU. Ever since that offer, the signal-caller has garnered 6 more offers from Arkansas State, Western Kentucky, Georgia State, Murray State, Sacramento State, and the seventh and most recent one being from FIU.

While many think that the offers might be coming because of Lane Kiffin’s pull, the kid is putting in work too in his practices. The head coach has signed up Knox for classes with 3DQB SoCal, which focuses on biomechanics and is currently regarded as the topmost development organization for improving biomechanics on the field. This is just the one thing that Knox is doing that we know of, so when he comes to Oxford? Well, then maybe we can get a good look at him after all.
