Knox Kiffin, son of Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin and a 2028 QB prospect, is already making waves during his recruitment. The Oxford (Miss.) signal-caller picked up his first Power 5 offer in May from SMU, showing he can shine on his own. Now, while bigger programs are circling, Knox has made a headline-grabbing announcement. A visit to an Ole Miss rival, the same team that lost to the Rebels 24-19 in Week 5. The spotlight is now on, and the young Kiffin has a specific request.

On Sunday, it was announced that Knox would be visiting LSU for their Week 7 clash with South Carolina. Although there is no offer yet, the Tigers clearly see promise in the 6-foot, 170-pound high school sophomore. Knox played sparingly as a freshman at Palos Verdes before making his mark at Oxford, and so far this season he’s appeared in just one game. In that one game, he racked up 4-for-7 for 109 yards through the air and added a rushing TD. Although it was limited action, there are plenty of upsides. And now, with recruiters taking notice, he’s making a bold call.
Following his LSU announcement, Knox shared a playful IG story. While the post he shared in that story highlighted his LSU visit, the caption had a reasonable demand. He wrote, “Can we get a new photo 😂?” Its also a subtle message to the programs that have already extended offers. Yes, Knox has offers from programs like Murray State, Arkansas State, Georgia State, Western Kentucky, Sacramento State, and FIU. But how does LSU fit in, with his dad leading Ole Miss from the sidelines?

Lane Kiffin himself won’t be in Baton Rouge with his son because his own team faces Washington State. But the Kiffins still have deep ties to LSU. Don’t forget that Knox’s sister, Landry, is dating LSU LB Whit Weeks, adding extra spice to the rivalry. Back in Week 5, after Ole Miss squeaked past LSU, the Kiffins claimed bragging rights. Lane couldn’t resist a little postgame humor, joking on ESPN, “I’m looking for Whit right now to see if we covered the over.” Meanwhile, Landry supposedly cheered for her dad, not for her boyfriend. The win allowed for some playful banter for the Kiffins. But now, while Lane’s son plans a visit to LSU, the Rebels have already secured a 2027 4-star QB, locking in part of its future.

Lane Kiffin got a future star at QB for Ole Miss
Ole Miss has secured a huge recruit for 2027. Keegan Croucher, the 4-star QB from Cheshire Academy, chose the Rebels over more than 20 top programs. And those offers included big programs like Oregon, Penn State, Miami, and Georgia. So landing this 6-foot-4, 205-pound QB seems to be a big win for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. Currently ranked No. 12 at his position, Croucher immediately steps in as the cornerstone of the Ole Miss offense under OC Charlie Weis Jr. Here’s why Croucher made Oxford his choice.

“His message is that I’m their guy,” said the 4-star QB to 247Sports. “That’s awesome to hear. They are putting all the eggs into my basket.” Looks like everything fell into place for Croucher in Oxford. Between Kiffin’s fast-paced offense and the family-like vibe on campus, he saw the perfect fit. Yet, the commitment also shows Ole Miss’ recruiting progress.
Croucher brings more than just QB talent. He’s a three-sport athlete with star potential. And that’s why scouts praise his “easy velocity” and “clean, efficient release,” traits that fit seamlessly into Kiffin’s system. Now with past Rebels QBs like Jaxson Dart and Matt Corral setting the standard, Croucher’s commitment sends a simple message: Ole Miss’ future is elite.
