Remember back in 2022, how Landry Kiffin persuaded her dad to stay at Ole Miss? The 20-year-old student’s love for the Ole Miss community was enough for Lane Kiffin to change his mind and pass up on the Auburn offer. So, he stayed put and continued to coach the Rebels. However, with the recent head coach firings, Kiffin’s popularity has soured, and maybe Landry is hinting at her dad to switch his job. Is she?

Landry gave her 100% to make sure her dad stayed at Oxford. “Me and my friends we made this slideshow collage to a song we knew he would find sad and just really rethink his decision,” she revealed (via E60’s The Many Lives of Lane Kiffin). But that was three years ago. Now her relationship with LSU linebacker Whit Weeks has been the talk of the town, and maybe her priorities have changed.

After an upsetting defeat against the Aggies, Brian Kelly was fired. Again, Kiffin’s name has popped up on the LSU head coach search carousel, and Landry is again hinting at her dad. Not a slideshow this time, but rather a jersey. On Saturday, Landry ditched the Ole Miss vs Oklahoma game and was present at Baton Rouge, donning Weeks’ LSU jersey on the stands. Although this was before Kelly was fired, he was already facing the hot seat.

Though on Saturday, Weeks couldn’t see much action, owing to an ankle injury.

Lane and Landry’s budding romance ahead of the Rebels vs Tigers clash hit hard. Landry had a No. 40 patch secured onto her dress, supporting her beau with their relationship chat further dripping down into the broadcast box. Sean McDonough revealed that the duo met each other in March. Lane Kiffin, being a dad, exuding ‘dad energy,’ had a background check run on the Tigers’ LB.

But what about the not-so-cheerful outcomes he might have faced? “You think, oh, this is terrible… A firing, a breakup, a daughter dating a linebacker on the other team,” he said on Pardon My Take. “All those things that you might think are terrible. You don’t know.” With a laid-back, chill attitude, he is happy for his daughter’s relationship. He continues his point by saying, “They might end up being wonderful things, right?… I just embraced it, ran with it, and Wit’s a great kid, great family.”

The head coach gave a pretty straightforward response to all those who were hating on the duo’s relationship. “‘I’m glad those two are happy together,” Kiffin let out. “It has nothing to do with the game itself. It’s a really great family.”

However, with the recent vacancy at the LSU head coach seat and with Kiffin’s popularity soaring, will Lane Kiffin go to Baton Rouge?

Will Lane Kiffin leave Ole Miss?

Before Brian Kelly, college football witnessed the firing of 11 head coaches. Lane Kiffin, with his robust resume, appeared to be a favorite candidate. The Florida Gators are keen to land him at Gainesville as well. Meanwhile, Paul Finebaum’s opinion stoked the flames again with his words, “I’ll just make it simple. LSU is a better job than Florida,” on the Matt Barrie Show.

So, is Lane Kiffin leaving the Rebels? When the Gators rumors picked up steam, the head coach had to clear the air. ESPN’s Molly McGrath gave the update: “Lane Kiffin told me he usually doesn’t address those kind of coaching rumors in-season, because there’s so much more football to play, and there’s so many bigger things to focus on.”

On his popularity, he further said: “That’s a product of having a program with a lot of players and coaches doing a really good job. I probably wouldn’t even have mentioned it, because they’ve been through this every year.”

Nevertheless, after Brian Kelly’s firing, Kiffin remains a coveted candidate on LSU’s list.
