The upcoming SEC battle between No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 13 LSU is going to be one of the biggest games to watch this weekend. Both the Magnolia Bowl teams are entering with one loss each to meet for the 113th time. But ahead of this important clash, LSU HC Brian Kelly drops by on a platform to drop Nick Saban’s rat-poison tactics on Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart.

Brian Kelly made a screen appearance on SportsCenter with David Lloyd as uploaded on YouTube by ESPN College Football on October 10. Despite having a star QB Garrett Nussmeier, the Tigers HC kept his head on earth like Nick Saban who is all about not getting overconfident. Kelly shone the spotlight on Jaxson Dart as he praised his “toughness” and added, “[Dart] is a guy that wants the football in his hands when the game’s on the line and you love that kind of attitude from your quarterback.”

Be humble. That’s Nick Saban’s rat poison tactic. When Lloyd asked Kelly if he had any message for Jaxson Dart and their plans on tackling him, he kept things low-key. Always a good sport, he joked, “Tell him we play Sunday at 4:00 and maybe he shows up a little bit late.” This game will be a test for LSU to change the record after their 55-49 fall to Lane Kiffin and the Rebels last season.

In addition, the Baton Rouge game will be a huge determiner of both the team’s playoff chances. LSU just came off a bye-week after beating South Alabama 42-10 with an overall 4-1 record. Meanwhile, Ole Miss already played six games with their last 27-3 win coming against South Carolina after a sole unexpected loss to Kentucky in Week 5. So who’s the favorite to win in Week 7?

Analyzing LSU vs Ole Miss game odds and QBs

Based on the scoring, Ole Miss has fostered their dominance this season with a record of 267-42 in six games. While LSU played only five games, they’re quite behind the Rebels in terms of scoring with 183-101. Ole Miss is a 3.5-point favorite to win the SEC clash on Sunday. Lane Kiffin’s program ranks 2nd and 3rd in the FBS in passing output and scoring defense, respectively. They’re also the No. 10 in scoring offense with an average of 44 points per game.

This will also be a QB test between Jaxson Dart and Garrett Nussmeier who are both elite players. Brian Kelly pointed out that “they have skill sets that allow them to run the offense that they’re directing” and that they’re both “incredible competitors.” So far, Dart recorded 2,100 yards and 13 TDs while Nussmeier accounted for 1,652 yards and 15 TDs. Who’s going to outplay who? Be there at Tiger Stadium to find out.
