Matt Rhule would be impressed by his team after they beat Michigan State on Saturday.
Matt Rhule’s Nebraska Cornhuskers are 3-0 after their dominant 59-7 win against Houston Christian Huskies at the Lincoln Memorial Stadium. They’re entering Big Ten play this weekend, outplaying their opponents in the non-conference. After this big win, the HC wasted no time and flew to Las Vegas to witness Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez’s undisputed super middleweight championship boxing match. Crawford represented his home state, Nebraska, with the Huskers ‘N’ mouthguard and won the match by unanimous decision.

At Matt’s press conference on Monday, the HC spoke about his attendance at Bud’s send-off and shared that Crawford was pleased to see them there and commented that Huskers were everywhere. “It’s really cool to see Netflix, the whole world to see him as he sports the Nebraska ‘N’ on his mouthpiece, and seeing all the guys that are with them all wearing Cornhusker red,” Rhule said. In a recent interview with Hurrdat Sports, Matt gave clear details on how Crawford’s mentality represents them, and how they can outplay their rivals.

“I like the fact that he went out and risked it all,” Matt Rhule said. “He’s on the pivot; he didn’t do it for the money, or anything, he did it because he wants to chase greatness.” He also noted that Crawford has great respect for Canelo, claiming that they are “two first-time Hall of Famers.”
“I remember the first year here, sitting at the press conference,” Matt remembered. “Everyone kind of being like, Why don’t we hire this coach? Why did we hire this coach? And I remember if you guys remember me saying like ‘Hey, when you hire me, this is what it is.’ I’m gonna try to do it slow and methodically and try to do it the right way. I mean, we’re nowhere near.” He continued, “We’re 3-0. We haven’t played anybody in the Big 10 yet. Like, I don’t know what we are, but it’s not a matter to me. It’s a matter of winning. So when you have an example of that, I love it.”

Matt revealed that he met Canelo in the ring and went backstage to meet Crawford, where “everyone there has a Nebraska hat on. So, how could I not be there?” He then gave a fair warning to their rivals, “When I go out recruiting, we’re trying to recruit against Alabama… Michigan… Ohio State. So to have Nebraska N be front and center of Netflix. I kind of have to be in that picture,” Rhule needs to do whatever he can to promote his program for future recruitment. He says that it is not his nature, but this is the job in today’s college football.
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Michigan Wolverines
Nebraska is all set to enter the Big Ten play this weekend against the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday at Memorial Stadium. This will be the 14th time the Huskers and Wolverines meet each other inside the field. Michigan is currently holding an upper hand against Nebraska with eight wins and four losses. The last time the Huskers defeated the Wolverines was back in 2013.
Both their teams are led by promising QBs, but the difference comes in the coaching side. Michigan will be playing without the head coach, Sherrone Moore, this week, with Biff Poggi serving as an acting coach. All thanks to Connor Stalions. On the other end, Matt Rhule will be hoping for a win as that will raise their stock.
