Dylan Raiola and the boys took their Week 2 post-game celebration a bit further than necessary. After finally putting an end to their three-game losing streak against Colorado, the freshman QB Raiola and his teammates trolled Shedeur Sanders’ signature watch-flashing move. They imitated it in the locker room which immediately gained huge attention on social media.

Despite the uproar it caused, Nebraska HC Matt Rhule remained chilled about this whole fiasco. He isn’t one to meddle with the social media affairs of his college football players, a contrast to some coaches like Colorado’s HC Deion Sanders. Instead, he viewed these exchanges as part of growing up.

When Matt Rhule was asked about the viral dig at Shedeur Sanders, he claimed that he has nothing to do with what his players post. The 49-year-old defended his players saying, “Obviously we have standards, we want the guys to do things the right way. But they’re young men. They’ve got to grow… I’m not here to tell them what to say.”

Matt Rhule made the “interestingstatement in his interview with Rich Eisen on his YouTube show on September 18. Unlike Deion Sanders who got himself in hot water for getting involved with Shedeur and Xavier Smith’s beef, the Huskers HC remained aloof to the situation and settled with the simple fact that they won. And it was a humiliating defeat for Deion Sanders and Colorado after confidently exposing their plans to thwart Dylan Raiola in his freshman season.

Colorado faces a humbling defeat at the hands of Matt Rhule’s Huskers

It was a 28-10 loss for Deion Sanders and Colorado where Matt Rhule’s preparation shone on the field of Memorial Stadium. Dylan Raiola, who came in the Huskers’ hope, delivered a worthy game leaving Shedeur Sanders in the trench by completing 23 of 30 passes for 185 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, the Buffs QB received multiple hits and six sacks completing 23 of 38 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown.

Following their rivalry win, Raiola spoke about his satisfaction saying, “We were fired up, we know wins are hard to get in this game. We’re going to cherish and celebrate every one, but this one meant a little bit more to us. Rivalry game, things that were said last year.” Now, Nebraska ended Colorado’s winning streak and leads the series 50-21-2. But right now, it’s not just this one particular rivalry game but the season games that matter the most. Colorado bounced back with another rivalry game against CSU in Week 3 with 2-1 while Nebraska continues to go strong with a 3-0 record so far.
