Coming off their Week 5 loss against Alabama, Kirby Smart’s Georgia returned to winning ways against Kentucky. The Wildcats didn’t stand a chance in the 35-14 one-sided encounter. The No. 12 Bulldogs have improved their record to 4-1. However, the win came at some cost. In his post-game comments, Kirby Smart revealed the injury status of two key offensive linemen: Interior offensive lineman Micah Morris and offensive tackle Monroe Freeling.

Last week, Morris went down with a left leg injury in the second quarter during the second quarter. He headed to the sidelines and bounced back in the third quarter. “Micah is dealing with a hamstring pull from the week before,” Kirby Smart told the media. “He was able to go without… He didn’t get many reps in practice, then his shoulder slipped out. He’s dealing with it, came back.”

In addition to the hamstring pull, the senior left guard was seen limping off the field to the medical tent during the game, appearing to have sustained a shoulder injury. In 2025, he was named Preseason All-SEC Fourth-Team by Athlon. Last year as well, he had sustained a lower-body injury, appearing in 12 games.

On the other hand, Monroe, Freeling left the game at the end of the first series and did not appear on the field again. “Ankle, don’t know how bad or severe it was,” Smart said of Freeling’s injury post-game. “It was an ankle, he re-taped, tried to go, tried to put pressure on it, couldn’t. Bo (Hughley) practiced all week at right (tackle), then had to go at left. Didn’t take many reps there. ” This year, the junior left tackle was named to the preseason All-SEC Third Team.

Last season, Freeling started four games while appearing in 13 games, and played the last two games of the season with a torn labrum. He underwent surgery in January this year and missed spring drills for that reason. Morris and Freeling were among Georgia’s experienced linemen.

On the defensive unit, defensive lineman Jordan Hall has been injured. “Yeah, he’s just dinged up,” Smart said to the media. “I mean, I don’t know specifically what it is. He’s had a patella. He’s had some knee issues, and he gets dinged up a lot and comes back.” Given the latest scoop, how is the roster faring at the moment?

Kirby Smart calls it, “Dangest thing ever”

With the roster, dealing with injuries, Smart’s playoff dreams are at stake. “It’s tough sledding. It’s the dangedest thing I’ve ever seen with the offensive line in terms of, never played with two freshmen, never played with five guys, and having to roll guys.” After facing defeat against Alabama last week,  former five-star recruit and wide receiver Talyn Taylor had sustained an upper-body injury during practice, requiring surgery, as reported by On3’s Pete Nakos. Having played just one offensive snap over two games (Tennessee and Alabama), he chipped in two catches for 28 yards this season. Smart added. “It’s been tough.”

Georgia’s injury-battered roster is a concern, with the head coach calling them “a mash unit.” Throughout the five games, the Bulldogs had to switch four different starters at right tackle, owing to the injury-sodden roster.

But despite the injury blues, Kirby Smart is proud of his roster, who have been trudging through all the pains of the rugged sport. A tough and physical culture, the head coach called it. “They believe in pushing through if they can. I’m proud of them for that,” he added. “There’s value for them in terms of what they want to do at the next level because those guys play hurt every week. ” Will these players be able to go against Auburn next week? It is not clear as of now.
