“That chair, we’re gonna have to check on.” That Week 3 thriller between the Irish and the Aggies gave the fans everything they could’ve dreamt of. Explosive plays? Check. A one-point 41-40 bloodbath? Check. A chair being flung across because Mike Elko was losing his mind? Check. 14-7, Texas is trailing, and what happens? CB Dezz Ricks racks up the dumbest personal foul while trying to shove a Notre Dame running back, and well, Mike Elko? He wasn’t having any of it.

The camera pans to the bench, and we see Elko fling that chair across while screaming at his boys. But hey, it’s fair play, though, because Elko has since come out explaining why the “chair-throwing” was important. “I don’t know who put the chair there, but the chair can’t be in between me and the group of guys I’m trying to talk to. I’m going to deflect the blame on the chair for this one,” Aggies HC Mike Elko explained on the Aggie Football Hour. While A&M did eventually manage to win at South Bend, it did come at a cost. Most, if not all, of the game was characterized by the Aggies making one mistake after another.

A punt was blocked, leading to a touchdown return. Around 13 penalties were racked up. And a 3rd Down defense, which was questionable at best. However, the errors don’t stop here because there is another big “accusation” that is floating in the air, which Elko never bothered talking about.

See, we understand what Elko means when he says, “Sometimes, it has to happen that way. Sometimes, it’s going to be ugly.” But does this “getting rough” and kicking doors down automatically excuse you from “trying to cause harm” to other players?

Well, remember the “ND running back” we mentioned a few paragraphs ago? Yeah, that was Jeremiyah Love, and he had quite the thing to say about the Aggies players that the HC has yet to acknowledge.

Jeremiyah Love points out the obvious?

“People have been coming, trying to rip it off. They’ve been trying to do whatever they can to take me out of the game. Try to blow my knees up, all that.” This was Love’s confession as ND Insider Mike Berardino pointed out.

See, when we mentioned Aggies making one mistake after another, we weren’t joking. Almost the whole defensive game was plagued by flags and penalties. Plus, when you look further into the stats and see how Love was the key offensive player for Freeman and Co., these “mistakes” by the Aggies’ defense start looking more intentional.

Now we know that it has been weeks since that game, but the targeting accusations, and on top of that, zero response from Mike Elko, make it seem that the HC knows his players are guilty. Will we ever see Elko coming out and giving his view on this? Eh, well, maybe on the next Aggies Football Hour.
