The unranked Virginia held on in the double overtime to steal a win from FSU, denting their place in the ACC. Mike Norvell will have to do some cleanup after that upset loss. If they’d won this game, he might not have had to lose out to Alabama for a key honor. FSU fans are clearly not pleased. ESPN’s College GameDay is giving an important Seminoles clash a miss for 11th straight year.

The beloved show will be travelling to Tuscaloosa for the high-stakes Alabama-Vanderbilt clash next week, ESPN announced on X. College GameDay doesn’t roll out its full schedule completely. It reveals their next venue on a weekly basis. There was high hope amongst Seminole fans that the crew will make their way to Tallahassee in Week 6. FSU takes on Miami as part of an epic rivalry, which has produced some very memorable games. Despite these stakes, College GameDay picked Alabama-Vandy over the important game.

This development might have to do with FSU being stunned by Virginia on Saturday. The Seminoles have already fallen to No. 19 on the AP Poll after that loss. The defense struggled to tackle, and red zone issue piled onto the struggling offense. Tommy Castellanos tried to make a comeback by taking the game, and fought through with his best. But Virginia was simply better. Cavaliers QB Chandler Morris simply had a gala time taking FSU through the mud. This loss doesn’t kill FSU’s ACC title hopes, but it’s also given Virginia more room to climb up.

FSU’s rivalry game with Miami is easily one of the most anticipated by fans of both programs. Even Miami’s charm and star QB Carson Beck couldn’t make the case for College GameDay returning to Tallahassee. The show is instead setting its eyes on an equally interesting clash next week. Alabama – over whom FSU gets to have bragging rights – will hope for redemption against Vanderbilt. Fans threw some serious shade at FSU for the miss.

Mike Norvell and Co. center of all attacks from fans after College GameDay loss

“Lmao FSU blew gameday. I will say it’s wild to give it to the team FSU beat instead but hilarious all the same,” one fan commented, focusing on how ironic this situation is. FSU defeating Alabama leaves a mark on the CFB juggernaut’s legacy. This was the second straight win over the Tide for the Seminoles, and yet, College GameDay will be traveling to Tuscaloosa. Moreover, Alabama just beat Georgia, making it a more appealing prospect for the show. Mike Norvell has to come back up after losing to Virginia of all squads.

“Thanks for nothing @FSUFootball. U guys had one job!!!” one fan wrote, clearly displeased about the snub. Who doesn’t want College GameDay to make the trip to their campus? Fans have been waiting for more than a decade for the show to come back. Now, that wait is set to continue until next year. “All FSU had to do was not lose to UVA, then GameDay would be there,” another wrote. A win over Alabama, a 5-0 record, and Miami as opponent could do nothing for the show to pick Tallahassee.

“Good choice. The set in Tally would have been dead due to every fan still licking their wounds from mighty UVA running it down their throats,” one disappointed fan commented. It’s a little hyperbolic, but FSU fans are clearly dejected after losing the Virginia game. It should have been a win, after all. Mike Norvell will have reclaim his lost respect under the spotlight of ACC Network. By all means, that limelight is no match to what could have come from College GameDay.
