You can’t leave the birthday boy hanging, can you? That’s a very unlikely situation for Shedeur Sanders, who has an NIL valuation of $6.5 million. But he still clings on to the possibility of that event with his big day just around the corner. The thing is, the 22-year-old will be heading to Louisiana to celebrate his birthday, which falls on the Super Bowl weekend. And for the Sanders, birthdays come with a lot of love and big gifts. So before anything could happen, he’s laying out his expectations for his well-wishers.

Shedeur Sanders is giving off an early warning, so we can’t say he didn’t warn us. In his new YouTube episode on 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders on January 31, he said, “Let’s just get this understood… My birthday is on February 7th. I will be there in New Orleans. And if nobody has any surprises for me, I gotta switch up on everybody, bro… Cause nobody cares about my birthday.” And here’s the fun part, “My birthday’s on the 7th of Friday. Shilo’s is Sunday. So I’m telling you, if nobody’s got nothing for me, I’m switching up.” If you don’t have presents, don’t expect anything back. Shedeur couldn’t have made himself more clear.

Is his comment on Shilo Sanders a warning that you’re going to reap what you sow? The Sanders family goes over the top to make each other special on their birthdays. And this time around, he’s expecting the same type of energy. An instance is when Shedeur presented Deion Sanders with a $70K custom Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch for his 57th birthday in July. These extravagant gifts can deter fans in their desire to make the Buffs QB special.

Fortunately, as Shedeur explained, it’s not about the price tag — “It’s the thought that counts for me bro… Everybody, we’re going different budgets so it’s just, as long as I feel and know their thoughts into it, then that’s all that matters for me.” There are no plans for the Sanders family for a Super Bowl watch party, but Shedeur Sanders has a bigger dream. “My birthday’s always around the Super Bowl,” he said. “So I don’t know. Hopefully, next year, we’re playing in one.” It’s clear his confidence is rooted in his belief that he’s destined for greatness.

Shedeur Sanders believes he’s a valuable franchise QB

Shedeur Sanders didn’t participate in the Shrine Bowl games this past weekend. But he’s already met with several NFL teams and continues to make his case as one of the top QBs in the 2025 NFL draft. Speaking to the reporters, he said, “We went, and we changed the program at Jackson [State]. We went to Colorado, changed the program. And we did everything people didn’t think we was able to do. That’s why I’m the most guaranteed risk you can take.” Such high praise, but truth rings with it.

Along with Deion Sanders, Shedeur transformed Colorado from a 1-11 team in 2022 to a 9-4 team in his final collegiate season. He went on to earn the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year after posting a stellar record throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. At the Shrine Bowl, he’s met with the three NFL teams with the top 3 picks — Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants — all of whom have high praise for him. There’s no certainty where he’ll land. But he’s certain about what he can bring to an NFL team. “A lot of wins,” Shedeur smiled. “A lot of wins.” Can we trust his word for it?

If his confidence translates to the NFL, we might just see turning that Super Bowl dream into reality. But for now, the spotlight is on his upcoming birthday. Will his family and well-wishers deliver or will he be switching up on anyone?
