In Week 13, Ole Miss Rebels traveled to Florida to take on the Gators at the Swamp. A rejuvenated Gators already took down Brian Kelly’s LSU, and they would be looking to do the same to the Rebels. Now that Lane Kiffin is trying to lead the Rebels to the playoffs, he misses someone special.

“Hi Dad.  We are all here. 💙. Miss you”, Kiffin penned down a short message on X for his dad, Monte Kiffin, who is no longer with us. Kiffin shared a family photo, but unfortunately, it remains incomplete without Monte. Kiffin’s dad was his biggest inspiration, and he takes pride in following his father’s footsteps. Monte Kiffin left the world on 11th July, and since then, Kiffin has not left a chance to honor his father’s legacy.

Both of them shared a beautiful bond and football is not just a sport for the family. It carries a lot of emotions. Kiffin is very fortunate that life gave him a golden opportunity to work with his father. How lucky?

After working with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Monte decided to join college football. And guess what? He joined the University of Tennessee as a defensive coordinator, which was then led by Kiffin. Then, in 2010, Lane Kiffin joined the University of Southern California, and his dad followed him again. We are sure all these memories are going to stay with Rebel’s head coach forever. Till then, let’s see if Kiffin is going to make his father proud by winning against the Gators.

Florida Gators handed Lane Kiffin his third defeat of 2024

Unfortunately, the Rebels lost to the Gators in week 13. 17-24! Does that mean the Rebels are out of the playoffs? This game today held significant importance as the Rebels are now standing at No. 9 rank. But it looks like the Gators picked the game where they left it last week against LSU. After defeating LSU by 27-16 in week 12, they continued to dominate the Rebels this week.

The Rebels started off well and stopped DJ Lagway from the opening drive of the second half, but unfortunately, a mishandled punt gave the Gators an advantage. Jackson Dart displayed some good plays in the first half; unfortunately, the interception when only two minutes were remaining cost them.

He had a chance to bounce back in the fourth quarter, but did he? No, he did not; instead, he threw the second interception. On the other hand, DJ Lagway was also not his best; he completed only 10 out of his 17 passes for 180 yards but had two crucial touchdowns for the team. However, Lagway made some big plays and kept Napiers’s offense alive. We all know the football landscape; it will be interesting to see where the Rebels end up in the college football playoff rankings this week.
